Brake is no problem, new rails and pads for that serial number are readily available for the most part. Idlers could be tough for new ones, used not too bad. Water pump should be no problem.
Have fun, that is what these old girls are all about.

Only thing I would say about cutting and welding in a strip is not to use plain steel. The trackframes are not hardened, but they are a better grade of steel. If you could find some Grade 80 or similar, that would be a better bet than plain cold rolled.

Given the general attitude I have gotten from them in the past, I wonder how well they were to deal with on warranty, or did they just blame it on you?

I think they quote me at least $8000 and that was many years ago.

They do not appear in the straight 350 parts book, but that is not to say that there was not a bulletin issued later on how to install them.

The gear was not listed as a replacement part, you had to order the whole unit. Unfortunately it is obsolete, so only availalbe will be used.

Depends on the brand of clutch, but normally you pull the top 4 bolt plate off of the clutch, and there is a way to adjust it in there, been too many years since I did it.

Could be out of adjustement, but more likely the clutch is stuck.
Send me an e-mail, I found that part you were looking for.

I just found a pic of the 227 gauge in teh 2010 servicemanual. Not sure if it is the updated one or not, but the one in the pic definitely does not mirror the JD7 on the back side. According to the service manual, one side of the gauge does engine and steering on the 2010 crawler.

Bill,
I don't remember off the top of my head, but I wonder if it is for 2010 clutches. EIther that or it already mirrors the JD7 gauge. When I get one, I will compare it to a JD7 gauge, then we will know for sure.

Bill,
You can't, the new 227 gauge already has tabs on the other side.
