Find the master pin, burn the center out of each end with a torch, let it cool, and it will drive right out. I have master pins in stock, $25, how much sledgehammer work do you want to do to save $25.

Re: Need photo of 1010c transmission drain plug location
Bolt has strength markings on the head, hex plug will not, plus they look quite different. Bolt likely has a lock washer under it, hex plug will usually have exposed threads showing. It is not likely a hex head plug. Original is standard square pipe plug, not that it couldn't have been replaced. Lavoy

Re: Need photo of 1010c transmission drain plug location
Don't remember for sure, but it is not a bolt, never will be, so don't take any more bolts. It is a 3/4" NPT pipe plug, lower side of the trans facing to the left just ahead of the LH steering clutch housing.
Look in your service manual, should be a pic there.

Re: jd420 pics
If it catches when it is flush, the end of the pin is mushroomed. Doesn't matter if you can't see it visually, you are dealing in thousandths of a inch. Grind the circumference of the pin, not the end, will make a huge difference.

LH side of the transmission, basically below your left foot as you sit on the crawler. 3/4" NPT plug.

Re: Newbie from MI
40 does not have a water pump, possible you have a 420? I will have some rebuilt water pumps in a few weeks. New radiators are available, I don't normally keep them in stock.

Re: jd420 pics
Grouser pads are hard on the rest of the undercarriage, drivetrain etc. Best example I have is stomp a shovel in the ground til it is all the way in. Then pull on the handle or try and twist it, same thing as a crawler with grouser when you are trying to turn. Loader just adds another 3000 lbs plus ...

Re: 420-c loader
That is a Greenville Steel Car Company/ATECO loader. Noise in the clutch could be bad throwout bearing. As for clutch, not hard to do, done more than I can count, just put an engine back in one yesterday. I have clutch kits on hand. I would advise getting a parts and service manaul prior to tackling...

Not at this time, not in the near future, but I am reasonably sure they will be available again.

Re: jd420 pics
All your greasing is overkill. Clean the shaft up, clean up the inside of the clutch tube, antiseize on reassembly and you will be fine.

Re: jd420 pics
Starter distance is the same, but it will be lacking some critical mounting holes of the later center section and so will not work.
