Changed oil with no change in performance. Put a gauge on the main pressure port and had 50psi in neutral and 110psi while in any gear, while at a fast idle. Any more clues?

I pulled the cover off the suction screen access to drain the oil and not that much came out. Are there other reservoirs that need to drain? I know there are pipe plugs on each side of the powershift housing next to the suction screen cover, If these are taken out will it drain more oil out? Which p...

Right now I am running Traveller equivalent oil from Tractor Supply. Oil looked a little milky when I pulled the screen so I am going to drain and replace and add some Lucas and see what happens.

In nuetral at half throttle the gauge reads 60 psi. When shifted into any gear the gauge reads 80 psi. It only reads 80 psi once it is fully engaged in that gear. After running it more last evening I noticed it "slips" when put into gear but once it engages it does not slip at any throttle speed whi...

550 Trans question

Have a 1977 550. 3rd forward does not pull the weight of the machine unless going downhill. After running for 30 min or so the dozer doesn' want to reverse, it will go into 1st and move but it takes a little while for it to engage. Oil is up to the proper level. Any ideas?

Do the belly pans have to come off?

Do they have to come off to get the motor out of a straight 550? Can't see any other way to get the lower bell bolts out.

Yes the antifreeze is in the oil and thank you. I assume the front of the tractor has to come off to let the motor slide forward enough to clear the converter? I know I should wait for the manual but I am too anxious to get this thing apart. Thanks.

550 Engine Pull Question

Just bought my first power shift dozer, 1977 550. Engine is drinking antifreeze, the head was checked by previous owner with new head gasket installed and problem persisted, I am assuming it is a liner. With that said I am going to pull the motor. I have a repair manual coming next week but I was ho...
