Re: Fuel wont Bleed after Fuel Filter replacement

I just changed the filters in my straight 450 and have exactly the same problem. The filters I took off had no markings so I don't know the brand. I put Baldwin filters on and they have holes in the top just like those I took off. I've got fuel coming out of the mechanical pump and the line is clear...

Re: 450 Project

Randy, just saw on facebook that water is going over Eldad road. They are suggesting voluntary evacuations for folks that live near the Elk River. Hope your friend is doing ok. I've poured 12.5 inches of rain out of my rain gage since last Sunday. Lots of rain.

Re: 450 Project

Hey Randy, I'm high enough but not dry by a long shot. Feeding the cows is the biggest problem I have. I usually roll bales down the hill but there's no gettin' on the hills now. Put a bale out this morning on some flat but very wet ground and it just made another loblolly in a few minutes. But it s...

Re: 450 Project

Yep, it's good food. One of my daughters has a degree in food nutrition and says it's a heart attack waiting to happen but it's good home cookin'

Re: 450 Project

No, I don't know him. I'm also a machinist and a farmer. I would guess he works or worked in the Huntsville area or I would probably know him. I've always worked in the Tullahoma, Winchester area. How's your dozer coming along?

Re: 450 Project

Not yet. I've had some busy weekends and haven't been able to get back on it. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can get the time soon. I'll keep the progress posted.

Re: 450 Project

Just so I understand. Free play is the distance the clutch pedal should move before you begin to feel the throw out move, correct?

Re: 450 Project

I'll have to check that Jim. It's been a while since I looked at that but the best I remember free play is one of the first things to do when making adjustments and I couldn't get the free play right because I had no more adjustment but I'll make the checks you've suggested this weekend.

Re: 450 Project

I'm in Lincoln county (Fayetteville). No, unfortunately I don't know of anything close to me that's available for parts. I'm always looking on Craigslist and other market places though. If I see anything I'll try and let you know.

Re: 450 Project

Thanks again Jim. That's what I plan to do but one of the first things I tried was to adjust the clutch and I think there's a problem. The adjustment screw is bottomed out which also makes me think that the engine clutch may need replacing. But before I pull it completely apart I just wanted to make...

Re: 450 Project

Thanks Jim, the dozer is a straight 450, 1970 I think. I looked it up when I got it but can't remember off hand and I do have manuals (tech, part & operator). It has a straight blade, manual tilt. I tried to attach pics but I'm afraid I don't understand how to post them yet. psprague posted some ins...
