Re: 450c oil leaks
easy way to work on a dozer or loader engine is to completely remove dozer or loader frame you will most likely find some thing else needs work some on those also presently doing an in frame over haul on 3 cylinder JD 302 with loader removed JIM How do we get the loader arms off a 450C? I'm thinkin...

Re: The Kendall Diaries - Overview
Stan, if you take the document to some place like Kinkos, they can scan it for you and give you a PDF file you could post here. They could break it up into several files so that none of the parts are too big to email or upload.

Re: Dumped my hydraulic fluid, am I damaging my pump?
Thanks for the part number, JimB. I'll try to get something suitable for the use eventually, but for now I have a chunk of radiator hose that kind of fit. I'm setting myself up for the exact same problem to happen again, of course. I'll try to get about a yard of the good stuff from Alaska Rubber an...

Re: Dumped my hydraulic fluid, am I damaging my pump?
I got the pump off and the loader moved out of the garden. The pump is right up front, below and in front of the radiator. The four 5/8 head bolts holding the suction hose in place were hard to access, and I had to use a 5/8 stubby to access the bottom ones. The 3/4 head bolts holding the pump on we...

The Chinooks are based 100 miles away. I'll put out some feelers, but that idea probably won't fly.

Re: Dumped my hydraulic fluid, am I damaging my pump?
Sounds as if I better look for a new pump, or look for a way to disconnect this one. The backhoe outriggers can't lift the back of the machine, so I think the pump is weak. Maybe the new pump idea isn't crazy. The machine is sitting above a little ridge of dirt and crud, high enough underneath that ...

Dumped my hydraulic fluid, am I damaging my pump?
I just tore or blew out the hydraulic return hose under the belly of my 450C, and dumped all the hydraulic oil in the garden. I need to get the machine out of the weeds and back onto solid ground. I think that I can back drag out of there with the bucket down. Am I going to mess up my hydraulic pump...

Re: 450C how to bar over engine?
Why did you not remove the nose of the loader? I think people are sometimes make it out in their minds to be much harder than it actually is. I can have mine off in less than 15 minutes. Now dozer guys, they have real nose removal problems -_- I didn't have any way to lift the snout off over the lo...

Re: 450C how to bar over engine?
Stan, do you have a part number for that tool? The few JD tools I've seen on fleabay have been priced for collectors, not for use.Stan Disbrow wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2020 4:22 amHi,
There is an actual Deere tool to drive the ring gear with a ratchet. I have a couple different ones. Worth getting.

Re: Rotary swing leaking?
Mine starts leaking after about 10 minutes of use. Then I get out the big wrenches and big hammer and pound them tight and I'm good for another 10 minutes of digging.

Re: 450C how to bar over engine?
I wound up with a defective starter, so I removed the electric motor and the solenoid, and welded a nut to the shaft. I can remove the starter, bolt this in its place, and bar the engine over conveniently. http://jdcrawlers.lcent.com:8000/johndeere/albums/userpics/10050/normal_IMG_20190517_032127328...

A friend was asking me to be on the lookout for track rollers for a 350C wide track. I thought he said it was in Nelson Lagoon. I guess there are probably lots of 350C wide tracks in Alaska.darrenrudolph83 wrote: ↑Fri May 29, 2020 1:53 pmNelstomlinson,

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old
So what is the secret for removing a stuck liner? I definately need and in frame rebuild. It would be nice to get the liner out to see if the block is any good. Any tricks to try? I did an in-frame rebuild. I don't think I'll ever try that again. It was a huge pain. Mine is a loader, and the arms a...

Re: 450C Leaking head or head gasket?
After delaying way too long, I took the head to a machine shop in Fairbanks and learned that it was not cracked, but was warped. The shop milled it flat, ground the valves, and I reassembled the engine. It is staying sealed and runs fine. I've put a couple of hours on the rebuild and all is well so ...
