440-- Fasteners question

When bolts become loose beetween components, we can expect something to break down. So, when reassembling the crawler together I was thinking about 2 options: Put anti-seize on crucial bolts at assembly to the correct torque and tighten from time to time. I was about to post the same link! I downloaded mine over there for the 602 blade on the 440. You have all you need as part # in this book from cutting edge to cylinder seals.

No problem Dan. Take your time. I have so much to do on the crawler... The alternator is far away from alternating! I had minor things to fix until I reached the final drives... Bull gear and axle need attention left side, new bearings and seal needed, steering clutch shafts have been welded, fibers...

No problem. I'm not stressed with that. The dozer is in pieces right now. The alternator is far in the to do list for now! :D

I see that you have a one wire alternator on the picture. Do you have a picture where we can see the lower bracket. I just bought one alternator like yours and I have to fit it on the engine. That could give me an idea. Thanks

Caterpillar # 115-2421 950 CCA maintenance free or 115-2422 for 1000 CCA. If You want to know how good is a battery, look for the weight! I'm gonna check for a female eyebolt in Cat parts at the shop and let you know if get a number for it. If not, plan B as you guys said: retap one!

yess you're right but I didn.t have that female eyebolt then... I'm gonna get it this week for reassembly. Stud is O.K. Engine looks more tilted in the picture than it really was!!
