Re: Non running JD straight 350

I doubt seriously that you would get that much out of a straight 350. I guess you can price one that high and then see what happens. You can always come down in price. That being said I have only ever seen 350C's and D's bring over 12K. And those machines were in like new condition or at least 80 to...

Re: drive shaft in steering clutch and brake assembly 450ca

I don't think what you're looking at has anything to do with that inner shaft. That shaft is actually the drive axle that fits back inside the steering clutch. I think you should be able to turn it to align the splines and it should slip back in place. It has been forever and three days since I was ...

Re: Non running JD straight 350

Well my thoughts are start at scrap iron price and go from there. You're looking at a pig in a poke. It may be a good pig or it may be a bad one. You don't know what you may run into so go in cheap and stay cheap. I've seen running machines bring 2500 to 3000 and they weren't anything to brag about....

Re: 350 Fuel injector timing gear question

I really doubt you have a valve stuck. Not saying it isn't possible because anything is possible on these machines. Just not likely it's a stuck valve. You can remove the valve cover and watch them as you crank it over or bar it over if that would make you feel better. You should be able to see if t...

Re: identify my 350 injection pump

Hey... Check with these folks if you haven't already. (http://www.mylexinternational.com/injec ... .htm#trade) They're located there in Mississippi and may be able to help you out. I know a couple of guys who have used them for your type of pump in the past and they may be able to help you out.

Re: 1970 JD 350C transmission gear issues

Unfortunately no, the reverser is first behind the motor. The transmission has to come out from the back. Which means you have to remove everything attached to it first. Break the tracks, remove the final drives, remove the clutch housings and then pull the tranny out the back. The transmission itse...

Re: identify my 350 injection pump

It would be my guess that you have either a CDC or a CBC pump. The very early Straight 350s had this pump instead of the later JDB and DB pumps. You should be able to take your machine serial number to Deere and they can find out what pump was installed at the factory.

Re: 450 Dozer - Loud noise when in Reverse

Wow dude... Sounds deep to me. I would pull the cover off of the top of the transmission and take a look at what things are like in there. Could be a bearing has come undone or broken teeth on a gear or something. Adjustments on the outside won't help I'm afraid.

Re: 350 Fuel injector timing gear question

I'm thinking you have gotten it out of time. I wouldn't just flip the pump 180 to try and fix it that way. I would pull the pump back and then make sure you have the motor at top center on number one at compression stroke. Your timing pin should fit into the hole in the flywheel and there is also a ...

Re: 1970 JD 350C transmission gear issues

It could be a broken shift fork or some issue with the shifter. Worse case scenario is all three of the other gears are shot. The 350 transmission is not hard to work on, it's just hard to get to. If the guy will let you, I would pull the top off of the transmission and see what it has going on.

Re: 550 oily sludge in coolant

As far as I know there is no real way to check those coolers. They are notorious for leaking oil into the coolant however and I would change it out. Some of these other guys may know a way to check them but I always just replaced the darn things and got it over with.

Re: 350B Stalled but Fixed

The check valve is there for a reason. Usually if it has clogged and has caused an engine issue it is because the governor ring inside the injector pump has failed or is failing. If you have your filter or filters in place then there should be no reason for dirt to collect at the check valve. The in...

Re: JD350 - PTO

You are correct that there should be a winch drive under that cap. The cap is there because it seals the transmission to keep the oil in it. With a winch installed there is a gasket that goes between the two housings and that winch drive will spline into a receiving collar in the winch assembly. The...

Re: 350B fuel filter conversion

Also on your current filter system make sure you have removed the old o-rings from the top portion of the assembly. I have found several with leaks that ended up being where folks had stacked two o-rings without knowing they had. These o-rings are hard to see and it is easy to stack two of them toge...

Re: Missing upper idler

Well... I just went to the JDparts site and looked at the parts listing for a Straight 350, four roller track assembly and they do not show an upper roller or carrier. From that I would assume that the four roller tracks do not need one. Who knew!! Right?!? I guess I have never been around o...
