Re: HLR pressure gauge.
A tube to the top pressure port was my "plan b". I was hoping to find a place to mount an electronic sender and there is no room for a sender under the cap. Plan B is starting to look better.

Re: HLR pressure gauge.
Mine has the HLR temperature gauge also. The manuals seem to indicate there was also a pressure gauge also. Maybe it was only on a few units. I am trying to figure out where the sender was located.

Re: HLR pressure gauge.
I understand that some 450's actually came with a sender unit and gauge. Does anyone know where the sender was mounted? I see the gauge wiring in the parts list but I have no clue where sender is located.
Thanks

HLR pressure gauge.
I want to put a permanent dash mounted HLR pressure gauge on a JD450(). Right now I have a gauge mounted to the port under the shift controls. When the outside cover (not the allen head pressure screw, the threaded disk) is removed I am getting a little oil splashing from inside the case and onto th...

Re: Recommendations for Hydraulic Fluid
Thanks for all the help I appreciate it. The closest thing I could find was Walmart Super Tech Heavy-duty Tractor Hydraulic fluid. The description says it meets J20a J20b J20c and J14. It's puzzling that it can meet both J20a and J20b if they're different viscosities but.... It also has the standard...

Re: Recommendations for Hydraulic Fluid
Does the designation AW32 or AW46 cover anything more than the viscosity? A local industrial hydraulic supplier has pallets of the stuff for $11/gal.

Re: Recommendations for Hydraulic Fluid
Once again, I appreciate the help. The old manual calls out JD303. Now I know exactly what to look for.
I will do some pricing, maybe Hygard will still win out. Regardless, the HLR and power steering will still get fed Hygard.

Recommendations for Hydraulic Fluid
Hi I am going to change out the hydraulic fluid on an old JD450. Can I get some recommendations for a reliable, cheap hydraulic fluid? It is for a homeowners machine and will not be used for daily work. I would like to get something that I can use through the winter. Temperatures will not be higher ...

Re: Lubing Roller
It is definitely a plug, there is no rim like on a button head fitting. No evidence that it was worn or sheared off either. That is good news. They do look a lot newer than a lot of stuff on the dozer. The "under brow" is not very pronounced. Not high enough to protect a fitting. I like your call. T...

Re: Lubing Roller
All 10 are all like that. The item on the center of the bolt is a plug, not a button head grease fitting. By sealed do you mean that they require no maintenance? I was thinking that center plug needed to be replaced with a button head and the allen head plug was for relief when greasing. The center ...

Lubing Roller
Hi I was looking to lube the rollers on JD450. They don't look much like the pictures in the manual. I am not sure they are originals or replacement. Any ideas? Re: Setting clutch on a JD450()
One last question. Does the spring clip (called a return clip in the manual) that covers the head of the adjusting bolt need to be removed prior to adjusting? It seems like the only functions is to keep the adjusting screw from turning, but the lock nut should do that by itself. Is that right or am ...
