There was a thread (no pun intended) dealing with stripped bolt issues. I wouldn't even consider using a helicoil. Try looking at a timesert http://www.timesert.com/html/faq.html. Depending on the what the hole looks like you may be able to use the same size bolt.

If you replaced that drive without taking off the nose you are my hero. You either have small hands or the patience of a saint. For me getting the nose off is a 2 person job. WHen I saw your picture I did a quick search on the drive and shaft. Saw what JD wanted and what the others were selling that...

jtrichard and Stan thanks for the explination. Greg, good that you got the plug out without having remove the top cover. I ran mine for quite a while yesterday. If I do a forward to reverse shift it is what I would consider quite harsh which means I need to do a needle valve adjustment to see if tha...

Go the issue resolved. I went through the clutch adjusment procedure and it made a huge difference. Now I believe I need to adjust the needle valve to slow the shift down. I generally always used the (hyd) clutch for my forward to reverse shifts anyways. Also, mine didn't have the filter screen in i...

Interesting that you should bring this particular subject up. I'm not familiar with what you call a straight 450 crawler.... Maybe someone can inform me of what the term straight means. In any event, I have a 78 450C loader with an HLR, it has wet clutches. I was having the same issue as you are des...

If you've connected a lead from the top lug of the solenoid to the lower lug which runs into the stater motor and the starter motor spun you've effectively bypassed the solenoid and the motor is fine. I sounds like the solenoid itself is bad brand new or not. The solenoid is what advances the drive ...
