Thanks Stan. It is too hard on my shoulders to lay on the floor and work over my head with limited clearance, hence the stand. This is the first it has been used, and I need another one.

Gear type reverser was available on 420's, both 4 and 5 speed up to serial number 131,308. At that point, the 420 got the clutch type reverser that was used until the end of two cylinder production, none of the cylinders used a hyd reverser. Both of these reversers were available with either 4 or 5 ...

The next victim part II

The other post was getting kind of long, so decided to start a new one.

This is a pic of the partially assembled power train sitting in the stand.

New reproduction front bumper for MC-430, blowout sale

For sale, new reproduction front bumpers for MC through 430. This is the curved bumper with the pin hole in the middle, not the grille guard mount.
There were normally around $130, I got a few on a closeout deal, will sell them for $75/each + freight.

Northern Tool sells them, I have seen them branded under different names. If you want to buy a bunch of them, I bet they will put your name on the side of them.

The curved support was used on 5 roller 40's, and 5 roller 420's under serial number 100,000. It was prone to breakage, and was replaced on the Phase 2 420's and 430's by the straight support. At this time, the straight support also became the replacement part for the 40 and early 420.

Okay, I was thinking you meant John Deere dealer. I don't know what to tell you on that one. I would guess that you could figure out a way to make it work with some fiddling around.

Herb,
The new one still should have had the resistor, not sure what they did there. What is the part number on the box?

ROb,
My brake bands already have a tougher material than OEM, they have metallic particles in them so they grab better than OEM as well.
Keep in mind that the 420 that was breaking them was a loader, fresh rebuild on the engine, and was being worked to death when they let go.

For what you want to do, I would not even consider an MC, and would probably look more for a at least a 420. The increased power would be benificial, and you would not increase weight that much.

This is highly unscientific, but see if it makes sense. It appears to me that they have enough more surface friction than the regular fiber discs that if they are adjusted the same way, the crawler labors badly trying to turn. In my experience, it is necessary to run less brake so that the pressure ...
