If a bolt breaks off, I weld a nut on the broken end, I ve even done this when the end was recessed a bit. The heat helps the stuck bolt and you can use a wrench on the nut just like the bolt never broke. Wire feed is my preferred welder for this. Jeep Water pump bolts seem to volunteer for this fre...

Glad I listened to you Lavoy! I took it to the shop and apparently they had rebuilt it in the past (old rebuild she said) they gave it a quick once over and think it is still fine. If they are right, it'll save me a few bucks and if it isn't doing the job on ht rebuilt motor then I can take it back....

Thanks, that is why I ask. Your experience far surpasses mine. I am pretty handy, but your advice is from experience and makes sence.

Any advice on a shop? I can use a local one, but maybe you know a specialist or a quality bargain....

I started pulling my engine and am going to go through it. Great info! Mine came with grousers welded on the triple bar pads. I was going to run them, now I think I wont. I'm sure it's been covered, but how much do new pads run?
