Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box

OK it is a plus you have one even though it got flattened. If you sent it to me to either straighten or reproduce, you would get it back. I am not flaky with stuff like that. I have a few metal working tools... This is what I had in the parts book. I see there were two versions. Depending on ...

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box

Hi Bruce, I recently made this for a guys rare factory "super" jeep CJ. I had a good example to copy. I see the cover in the parts catalog. And it looks like a front panel and two side panels spot welded on. I wanted one of the covers mainly for protecting the gauges from UV light and fading. If som...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I found and called Evergreen restoration. They do not do 350 or 450 gauges. He suggested looking at combine salvage yards and to look for JD 6620, 7720, 8820 gauges as they were the same being yellow, green and red and were also electrical sending units. Combine gauges were in a cab and only subject...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I am going to go have a look at the gauge restoration. Thanks for that. I was delaying purchasing the SW gauges to make sure that was the best option. I wonder what they could do with broken cases. Two of mine are severely cracked right behind the crimp on the bezel. In the picture above you can see...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Here is the double bend oil pump tube that delivers oil to the block. It seems all the replacement pumps need this now. I had a hard time finding the part number as most websites said use double bend tube with no part number and no link to it. It has a crimp on both ends to reduce the diameter that ...

Re: Engine will not turn over

It's a bit of work, cramped and most likely greasy. But I agree, take a look now verses later. Every time I see someone in a vehicle driving down the shoulder slow with their hazards on, I look at my wife and say.... Look they are spending a lot more money. I had to remove the front radiator surroun...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Yes, Lavoy mentioned that on the phone this morning. I will check it out. It seems photobucket is working today, so I went ahead and loaded some pictures up this morning . Thank you for posing the info... I will go look into it. So first off I want to say that Stan Disbrow is right. There is no such...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Looking forward to it Lavoy. I should be here working on a big greasy yellow thing. ********************** And I had some pictures to post. I found a fantastic way to load the Camshaft in the block without scraping lobes on bearing bores. Plus changes to oil pump stuff. Unfortunately I use photobuck...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

For Lavoy in case there are email issues again. ****************** Thanks for the phone time today. Here are the numbers for both turbo and injection pump. Model and year: JD450C crawler and it is a 1975 4219T engine being replaced with a 4239 Turbo: JD rebuild tag says RE30028 Manual says the air r...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Done deal... You are all right. I have been struggling with it. This morning my wife could tell that was all I was thinking about. She said just replace it, don't take a chance. The turbo here will become a nice looking paper weight. So Lavoy I need to chat with you and yes I need a turbo....

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

Merry Christmas. I hope everyone had a good one. I am in a conundrum about what to do about the turbo. I don't see anything obvious. But what could happen if I put it on and it failed? The turbine shaft has very little play. Just the oil clearance in the bearings is all I can feel. Everyone seems to...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I dropped my turbo off the solvent tank. :( I set it up there to get a gasket scraper to remove one of the gaskets for the oil feed. It was like slow motion. I could not catch it. It landed on a 3/4 inch thick high density rubber horse mat and bounced about 5 inches up from about 4 feet high. I am n...

Re: Hydraulic lines on a 1969 JD 400

I realize this is an older posting. I have a good running 1969 JD 400 backhoe. If I can help please let me know. A good manual is the best tool you could ever have. I will try to check back here or PM me.
