Great story! It is a good feeling to be able to tear something down and see it brought back into service. Great people and information on this site!

Finally got this project done. I used the pictures found here plus the indicator on my compact wheel tractor. Now to actually use the machine! Got some trees down and used the 4-1 to load logs. Have some areas to level before our winter rains set in. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2947/15461590221_9...

"Yes" to sheared bolts. Think I have aftermarket rollers on the bottom of my machine: hex socket and all stripped out trying to remove to check lube. Welded nuts onto them to remove. Non-standard straight thread-larger than SAE but smaller than metric...gonna be machining my own w hex head. Use anti...

If you YouTube Kieth Fenner he has a 4 pt video where part of the repair was building a boring bar. The bar and cutter insert seems pretty straight forward. Surplus Center has keyed shafting and flange bearings to support the bar. My challenge is a drive/feed system…

Nice looking job on the blade controls! That should make for much better control grading. My son had a TD7 that the bullgrader frame to crawler frame had tons of slop in and looked like it had beaten itself oval. I have some pins and bosses like that on the loader. Still sketching up a Rube Goldberg...

Well, rolled the machine up on a railroad tie under the right side and pulled the inner bolt to the left idler- that was the drilled side! Looked like lube was okay but added a little Power Punch additive and threw the bolt with new o-ring back in. Had a noise from the left side but everything looke...

Thanks for the replies. I was also wondering if just one end of the shaft is drilled for adding oil. I'm going to pull the bolt on the inside of the idler and check.

450B front idler lube

Afternoon.
I'm looking to see if I can add lube to the front idler.
I removed the bolt on the outside of the hub but I don't see a gallery or slot to accept lube- it just looks like I threads into the end of the idler shaft.
Thanks,
Darryl

Removing bottom roller plugs

Hello all, I noticed a leaking roller on my 450B (guess I could take that as a sign it has lube). Searching the forum I've found recommendations to replace plug w button-head fitting and use cornhead grease. I also noted one member cleaned the plug by spot blasting and soaking with penetrating oil. ...

I've noticed that on pieces I've welded and then tried drilling. Was watching a vid yesterday of using TIG to build up broken bolt or tap to remove from a hole. That got me to wondering: I've heard in the past that welding/heating if metal is oily can oil harden the metal. I've since tried to clean ...

Ouch! Missed that. I think the previous owner of my machine thought zinc-plated grade is good for most applications...
Could a hydraulic shop recommend the grade or fab one?
Here's the one I saw on-line: http://gulfsouthequip.com/at31949-john- ... 9-2657.asp

Is the pin missing or damaged? If it is scarred is it possible to build it up with weld and turn down?
Running that pn came up with a salvage yard in Baton Rouge that lists it at $84.

A hydraulic cylinder repair shop was as to fab up some short steel lines for my 450 loader. And they made some rubber lines for me.
Local auto parts house is also able to make rubber lines for me and have a pretty good selection of fittings SAE and metric
