Just one more question before I head out to the shop to turn a few of these out. The sketch Jim sent me shows the inside diameter of the insert as being 2-3/8". In as far as this piece is removed when you actually install the seal on the axle, is there anything critical about this I.D. or is the onl...

AM2011T Roller Seal New Price

Just noticed on JDparts.com that the price was up another $10 to $150. Haapy days are here again.

I actually bought a 6 foot length of PVC pipe from McMaster Carr for this project but I haven't gotten around to turning out the seal tools yet. The prototype is going to Jim for verification as soon as I get it done and then I'm still guessing the the PVC version will be about $30 and the steel ver...

I'm with Lavoy and pdmech08 on this one. I think the correct pin diameter for a regular pin is 1.181" if they're the same as the 350 pins. For the 1010 rails, the master pin is .006" smaller than the 1.000" hole. I think you've got the wrong pin or at least one that is out of spec. The pin has got t...

I'm in the process of restoring a 1010 which is sort of the little brother of a 2010. Parts are hard to come by and expensive and I've had to make or repair rather than replace many broken parts. I think the 2010 would be a fun machine to have if it weren't for the fact that you're one major compone...

Seems like for that kind of money you could find a 350 or 450 in need of some TLC. At least you'd be able to find parts unlike a 2010.

Just my opinion.

About half way down the Show & Tell page from your post you'll see where Tigerhaze stuck his 2010 and the comments.

Well, to Lavoy's earlier post on the topic, it looks like you got it in up to the armrests at least on one side. I'd say it qualifies.

On a related note, if it had been me, I'd still be cleaning up the seat.

I didn't mean that the fact it is a sleeve deck engine makes it prone to leakage. What I meant to explain was that it is a sleeve deck and can leak at the bottom if the gentleman posting the question didn't know that. Thanks for the clarification.

The 1010 is a "sleeve deck" engine and is somewhat prone to leaking around the base of the cylinders. There are a few other posts on here related to this topic and I'm sure no expert but it would seem next place to look is drop the oil pan and look for leakage around the cylinder bases.
