Backhoe weight
What is it with equipment weights? You would think that would standard info instead it can be like a state secret. I am looking at a Case 580K, 4wd, extendaoe full cab. Cannot find a weight for it. It is the only machine the Case site does not list a weight for, even the dealers can't tell me for su...

Re: Equipment gods are in a pissy mood....
Here's my nightmare story from today, though I will admit most of it was self inflicted. we finally caught a break in the weather, No snow or rain for two days in the 60's. So I am trying to get my demolition job cleaned up. Hauled last load to trusses this morning everything is good. Went back afte...

Re: Plasma cutters
Thanks for the review. The 60 is the one I am thinking about, sounds like the way to go. I did my cutting with a torch, slow going on heavy material, figure the time savings will pay for it no time. Have several fabrication projects in the works and I recently got to use a plasma cutter at another s...

Re: Hi Ho,Hi Ho it's off to work...
I guess we aren't supposed to work on Sunday after all. Went up to my demolition job to finish knocking done basement walls have it ready for fill coming tomorrow. Worked about 20 minutes and burst a hydraulic hose on the track loader. At least I didn't get sprayed this time and it was easy to get o...

My son is planning to remodel his house so kitchen cupboards and breaker boxes go to him, plus some of the framing lumber and sheathing. My office is getting oak flooring and trim. Trusses to put up a new sawmill building next year. Maybe a fire place. I figure we salvaged around 12 to 15,000 in bui...

Been trying to finish up a demolition/salvage job started just before winter. This was a 1950's single story ranch, about 1600 sq. ft. It was on the Allegheny River so this is prime real estate . The neighbors bought it because they did not neighbors that close, heard they paid 160,000 for it then h...

Re: The Change....
You have my sympathy. My wife went through this about 10 years ago. I learned to walk softly around her, try to be understanding because it is not her fault and spend a lot of time outside or is the shop. It was worse due to complications from her lupus. Best I can say is be patient and wait it out,...

Re: Hydroseeding
When I said an acre I meant a quarter acre. Road side I am talking about driveways or camp roads which are usually fairly short roads around here. When I said a couple jobs would pay for the equipement I am not saying the hydroseeding itself would pay for it but the larger job that I am losing out o...

Re: Hydroseeding
Thanks Amos, that was a good lead, I had done a search and didn't come with any pick up models. Pricing is not bad 3 or 4 jobs would pay for it. It is amazing how people will think they need things they really don't. The usual practice as long as I remember was hand sow the seed and mulch it with st...

Re: Hydroseeding
Not doing golf courses, just need a unit that will handle say 1 acre or less and road sides. Of course it is a capital investment, but when you losing out on jobs because it is a service you don't offer you have to think about making that investment.

Hydroseeding
Got another call from a customer wanting hydroseeding , thinking I should add that to my services. Are there small units that would fit in a 8 foot pickup? Any one built their own? This is something I know very little about and every manufacturer claims their unit will do everything including walkin...

Another time waster I don't understand is computer games. How could anybody sit all day in front of a computer or a tv screen killing or chasing or what ever it is fake what evers that they do? This is opposed to doing something productive like sitting at a computer and talking about 60 year old cra...
