Re: need Tachometer Cable for 350B

I looked on jdparts, it says a tach cable for a 350b is AT31116.

I've been searching around for one that fits my 440. There are a whole bunch models that use the same cable.

i suppose too that seat belts will be a factor, any of you guys have seat belts on the old JD's?
Personally, I feel like Eddie the Eagle and enjoy the airtime when it launches me on tipping over a slope.

The bone-jarring stop to it all ends the excitement quickly though.

Re: reverser oil flow question

I recorded a video of a pressure gauge on mine and shifting a number a times. My 0-300 gauge died so i had to use a 0-1500. Not a sensitive but it still works.

Re: reverser oil flow question

Hi Joe, B town, Mine came from southern Ill and I grew up in SE Iowa but if you brought it here, it'd be a tad further. What you said is interesting about the clutch valve: One thing that I noticed was the buzzing noise stopped and the pressure dropped as soon as I pressed the clutch This should not...

Re: reverser oil flow question

Just a thought...what would happen if the rubber cooler return hose was blocked or was collapsed internally? That would create a 0 psi reading at the cooler check point but I’m not sure how it would affect the other pressures. Joe Any blockage should decrease flow and increase resistance in the coo...

Re: reverser oil flow question

Hi Joe, That's interesting that you've added shims without seeing some effect, raising the pressure, decreasing pulsations, etc. It should be a fairly direct relationship between the spring tension and the pressure at the test port. And downstream pressures too: Initial oil pressure for the oil supp...

Re: reverser oil flow question

Hi Joe,

It's almost like 2 things going wrong.... :)

I think I'd try adding shims to the pressure regulator, to start. You are saying the transmission test port pressure is "90 -160" and the books says a more steady "170 -180".

There aren't too many other things that can be adjusted too.

Re: reverser oil flow question

Hi Joe, A couple of ideas from re-reading everything again. You made a pump gasket. Then I read you bought a JD one. Is it possible to assemble any of the valves backward? Pressure check point=90-160 psi to start and dropped to 0 psi after a few shifts of the HLR. When the pressure dropped to 0 at t...

Re: reverser oil flow question

You said previously about flow and I forgot about it until I reread the thread: When I had the metal supply lines off of the transmission case I turned the engine over with the starter to check the oil flow coming from the pump. It took a couple of revolutions of the engine to send oil out of the pr...

Re: reverser oil flow question

I think that the clutch lube bypass valve may be the problem here. If the clutch lube valve was stuck in the up (bypass) position or the spring was broken the oil would vent straight into the case and no pressure would be present at the cooler return line. The pressure would be 0 and there would mi...

Re: Jd 350 reverser oil

I use a single weight 30 SAE in the crankcase and 303 oil everywhere else in both my 440 and 450.

I was talking to my dad once about something like this, he said Why don't you just use what they recommend?

Re: reverser oil flow question

Inlet line pressure=60 psi. Return line pressure=0 psi Pressure check point=90-160 psi to start and dropped to 0 psi after a few shifts of the HLR. When the pressure dropped to 0 at the check point the inlet line pressure remained at 60 psi and the outlet at 0. Also curious is the pressure test por...
