My grandson and I have been clearing a couple of 2 acre deer plots during the last couple of weeks. After replacing bottom rollers, new track adjuster, new seat, reconfiguring exhaust, changing all fluids and filters and general bolt tightening, my 350 straight is working really well. My grandson ha...

Lavoy, I did as you suggested, removed the filter, spun the engine over about two revolutions and oil shot out over the track, so apparently there is nothing wrong with the oil pump or the engine? I sawed the old filter in half and the filter material was quite dirty so it appears it was working. Th...

Clean oil filter

When changing oil in my straight 350, I removed the spin on filter and it appears very clean as if oil has not been circulating thru the filter, at least as I thought it should be. Oil pressure has always run around 50lbs. Oil level is good, i check it before every operation. Anyone have an explaina...

Yes, there are advantages, i guess, to both inside and outside the track blades. Mine is, of course, inside, which puts me at a disadvantage when ditching or doing anything with the blade angled, but easier to get in and around things in close quarters. The only dozers with outside blades that I hav...

Yes, thanks Lavoy, kinder knew that when I posted. Another good use for this forum is a great place to vent frustration. Today I plan to borrow a big beater from my brother, go over and talk to my neighbor who is an x navy veteran, to reinforce my vocabulary and then meet the challenge with renewed ...

Stuck wedges

My 350 straight dozer has a manual 6-way blade. There are 2 steel wedges that have to be backed out in order to allow the blade to tilt. So far, I have used sledge hammer, heat(acetylene torch), hydraulic portapower, several doses of various penetrants and a lot of bad language; but have been able t...

For clarification, the brake bands operated by the steering levers are the same braking bands operated and linked to the foot pedal (right side) No separate brakes operated by foot pedal. Wasn't sure if there was some confusion or not.

If you would simply get yourself a service manual for your tractor, will explain completely how to do this and answer most any other basic question you have about your machine.

Could it be that the sprocket on that side is not lined up with the center of bottom roller causing track rail to exert outward force on the carrier roller? Where track carrier attaches to rear cross member, there are shims to adjust this.

Botton rollers

I am about to replace the bottom rollers on my 350 straight dozer. It appears to be a tough job. At present, I have the tracks broken, working on steering clutches and track adjusters. It has rock guards with numerous bolts many of which will probably break off when trying to remove. All this being ...

I use to feel the same way about the stuck up cheer leaders from my high school days until; after not going to any of my high school reunions, my lovely wife and I recently attended the 50th. Have mercy. Time has made a hell of a change in all of them. Ugly and wrinkled is an understatment. I'm than...

I have to say it: The first step you, me or anyone needs to do in this situation is to get a shop manual for your particular crawler. You can get information that will help you help yourself and also help you understand infomation and help offered from this web site. They are relatively expensive, b...
