Neither product is the best, here's why. The discs are rusted together, and nothing really dissolves rust effectively other than water or acid. Second, if you soak a fiber disc with a petroleum product, it will stay in there forever, and sooner or later cause the clutch to slip if the clutch does un...

If it occured suddenly, I might lean more towards the valve idea. As a cheap test, put in plugs, points and condenser just to try it in case it is a simple fix.

Larry, There are no bushings in the housing, so if it is rusty, the shaft is rusted to the housing. I would not lift on it, no sense taking the risk. Pull the fill plug and dump as much penetrating stuff as you can in there and gently hit on one of the lift arms once in a while to see if the vibrati...

Don I am out of shafts right not, I have one in for cost ananlysis as we speak, have not heard back yet. There are no oversize bushings, I suppose they used to just throw them away. One thing I can think of is to bore the roller for 440 front idler bushings, and use a 440 front idler shaft. That may...

Trouble is there is more dirt that falls on the top of the spring than normally comes up from the bottom. Might be a horse apiece.

No new rails. I can put you together a used set with new pins and bushings, that is about it.

Jimmy,
I do have the updated 6 blade fans on hand if you don't think you can straighten this one. Also look for cracks anywhere, I have one of these shed a blade, and it cost me a radiator.

Yes, loosen the set screw, and the outer shaeve will thread off. If you want to know the truth, I take them off with a knife if I know I will be replacing it. Then it is easier to get the sheave off and clean everyting up.

Pull the engine by itself, pulling it with the bellhousing can't be done unless it is a very high serial number 430.

Not rare, just not a whole lot built, about on the same level as a 3 roller 40. I have had several, had numerous customers with them as well. I would say on a percentage basis, there are less of them parted out then the other models.

All you have to do is start it, put it in gear, and hold both steering levers back. Apply the foot brake, and let one steering lever off until it drags the engine down. This will scuff any rust off the discs, and build up heat to dry out any moisture.
