Just a thought on the rod knocking. I thought I had the same problem with one of my model 40's. But after changing the connecting rod bearings with no improvement, I pulled off th head and found some "peices of metal" imbedded in the top of the piston. Not sure of where it came from but I suspect in...

Congratulations on surviving. I know what you went through as my wife just finished her treatments. Just hang in there. Lavoy is right, you have the best therapy, green and tracks.

God Bless!

They should be the same, according to the parts book. AT10863T is the correct assembly number for 40 and 420 to serial #100000. Looks like T11006T is the casting number. If they don't match, be sure someone hasn't been swaping things before you got them.

You have a great son. I have borrowed my neighbor's 6 ft trailer bushog and used it behind my 40C. Works very well but I'm with Howard. I'm generally just mowing weeds but I can load it up pretty good in low spots with thick grass. A 5 ft would be much easier on the machine and don't forget to use a...

I think you will have to remove the radiator to replace the belt. I don't have a 1010 but I have to do that on the 420.

Generaly speaking starting with the 40C, serial 62264, many of the parts do interchange. There are some that do not. As Dave mentioned the sprockets for a 40 are a different pitch that the 420/430/440 as is the chain. Some of the front idlers are different if it's a 4 roller. There was a standard an...

I am excited for you. I would love to have one of the Henry backhoes. I think you did fine on the price assuming the UC is usable. To me, just the uniqueness of the Henry equipment would make it worth a little more. Loading could be a challenge but certainly doable. As Lavoy said, take 3/4 of the sh...

SAE 90 W GL1 oil in the trans is the JD recommendation. I get my GL1 at NAPA but most real parts stores should have it or be able to get it.

Lavoy may have some originals. I think he is at Portland right now. They can be bought from Mother Deere but they are pricey. I know a fellow that sells reproductions at a reasonable price. Email me if you want his phone number.

If it's in good shape, that's fair price. A working winch is a high price option and if the UC is as good as you have been told, I think you did OK. Check the bushings on the track. You don't want egg shaped ones. If you can get the front idler up on a 6x6 block or lift with the blade so the tracks ...

I think it was Lavoy that said "buy the undercarriage". A good one makes it worth more as the UC is expensive to restore. Like digitup, I have paid $800 and I have paid $3600. Condition and location is everything. I have also seen guys pay $5K. A really good one, porperly restored, might be worth th...
