As a general rule, when someone says their undercarraige is 80% worn out, it really means that it is about 130% worn out. This is not an accusation of you in particular, or anyone in general. But, if you actually looked at an undercarraige inspection form, you would find that the tolerances are a lo...

Gary, Order a new pin, bearing, and two snap rings from Deere. FIx the slot as you already thought of, put in the new pin, and new bearing. Install one snap ring, and then carefully stack the second snap ring down on top of the first one. Make sure to put a little grease in the cavity when you have ...

MC is thermosiphon, no thermostat. Early MC had the temp probe in the water outlet, and never read the correct temp. Later ones were in the back of the block, and were much better. An MC is going to run hot no matter what, just the way a thermosiphon system seems to work. If you pull the radiator, h...

I have the gauges for 420-early 2010, and late 2010 and 350. I would love to have them reproduced, but the laser cost would be astronomical per piece with the engraving. There was a guy making them in plastic, but I don't know if he ever got to the Deere gauges, and/or if he is even still a round. T...

There really is not much in a modern crawler in this size range. The Nortrac/Northern Tool/Bob's Crawler Company is not too good of a machine. About the only thing in the 420 size range that I know of are the SAME crawlers out of Europe. They have tried other types of machine, and for what they are ...

The best I have found if you are in an area that gets it is snow. Snow is very abrasive, plus you get the penetrating benefit of the water. If you have a place to do it, get it in some deep snow and run it for a while, then get on a hard flat surface and run it for a while. You will know you are get...
