Re: Why
Upon reading over some of the posts in this section, I got no reason to piss and moan. I hope that some of the guys who could use a good laugh, can get one out of my frustrations and inexperience.

Why
Why do you guys like these things so much, I thought by getting a 65 year old piece of equipment, I would have something simple and fun to work on, but nooo, every time I turn around I have another issue, even the simplest maintenance task snow balls. Like changing the oil, started out with a jd oil...

Re: # 60 blades
Wonder if cobalt drill bits will work,or if I have to buy carbide bits for grade 50 steel? I don't believe I have ever had to drill big holes in hardened steel

Re: # 60 blades
It looks fairly simple, I am a maintenance tech with an emphasis on weld/fabrication so the process isn't a big deal, finding time is the hard part

Re: # 60 blades
They do have bushings and are in decent shape, the long arms are the ones that are in bad shape, I think I am just going to make new ones, I have access to a mag drill so it shouldn't be a big deal

Re: # 60 blades
Thanks for the replies we have a spring shop in the area, and I guess I will order some bar stock and make up a new frame, I was thinking about boring the holes out and making bushings, but not sure if I can find the center of the original holes, it make a good winter project

# 60 blades
So I figured since I have to pull the track off my mc I would pull the blade witch I knew was a little busted up. But I had no idea it was tweaked pretty good. The mounting holes are all hogged out and look like jelly beans, someone must of busted the left side lifting bracket and replaced it with a...

Re: Idler bracket crooked
Thanks for your input, it's not in bad shape, I have seen some of the ones you guys have brought back to life. It runs and steers good, tracks are worn but not shot, I think. At least they are tight with some adj left and their are 28 pads per side. But it's well used and there are some minor issues...

Idler bracket crooked
Hi fellas, was screwing around cleaning up the wiring on mc and I discovered the inside idler bracket is sitting on the track frame at an angle. The front is tight and the rear is coming away from the frame, witch is leaving a gap on the the rear of the idler wheel. Do you guys know what caused this...

Re: Mc roller grease
I tried looking up grease with fibers in it and all that came up on Google was hair pomade, as far as a barrel of grease, I probably won't run it enough to justify the cost, so I will get a case of the red and tacky and hope it stays in the rollers

Re: Mc roller grease
My boss is trying to contact our grease supplier at work, all the dude does is grease so hopefully I have an in. But the red and tacky Lavoy was talking about is cheap and I can get it at the local Lowe's. So if I gotta load the rollers every few hrs, so be it. Just seems that if a guy needs #3 grea...

Re: Mc roller grease
Thanks Lavoy, I can find the red and tacky all over the place witch is good, but why is #3 grease so hard to find? I can get it all over the world, but not so much here, did the EPA out law it or something? I am waiting on a reply from Exxon mobile concerning a distributor in my area
