Re: Help on figuring out 450 year?

Bruce and Stan have you going in right direction. Yours does sound like a straight 450. ROPS tag doesn't mean much as the ROPS for a 450C fits a 450 and was probably added later in the machines life. Get with a JD construction dealer and they can tell you if there is a serial number break for parts:...

Got the flu and it's as bad as they say

Friday throat was a little scratchy and saturday woke up sick as a dog:same day I had to go and look at/pick up another project:JD 1050 tractor. Felt so bad last few days didn't even get a chance to really look at new treasure. Had some antibiotics in my personal stash to handle the bronchial infect...

Re: People,People,People

Morning Jason, I listed the machine exactly as model is indicated on the serial number tag. It's the "-D" (dash D) designator on the serial number tag that confused the first caller. A 450D is represented on its serial number tag as 450D. No dash. For the novices out there I added an explanation as t...

Little tractor that could(maybe)

Started on my new auction treasure. Yanmar 3000 tractor:32 HP with a 3 cyl diesel. Major leak at head gasket below exhaust manifold and fellow wrench turners know it is either blown head gasket or cracked head. Got lucky on this one and was a blown gasket. Since head is off it is being rebuilt by a ...

Re: Mo Money,Mo Money,Mo Money

Ya the liberals call it crumbs we someone else does it, when they had a tax bill a few years back $500 bucks a year was "HUGGGGEEEEE". I gave all my employees $.50 hour a raise because of the tax bill and I may increase their profit sharing as well. And I'll bet not a single employee refused the ra...

Like everyone else working for a payroll check I was wondering if I would see an increase in my take home pay because of President Trump's new tax law. Turns out I did see an increase of close to 5% as did every single one of my employees :D This increase has been deemed "crumbs" and a foo-foo or tr...

I think I woke up OLD

Just got back from picking up my new auction treasure. Yanmar 3000 tractor. Not terrible but head will need to come off. Either bad head or (fingers crossed) a bad head gasket.Paid $2040.00 with commission and another $390.00 transport costs. Rest of tractor not bad at all. 1170 mile round trip with...

Hour Meter: To Believe or not to Believe. That is the question...

I'm a non believer: especially on older equipment.Seen functioning meters on dozers indicating "very low" hours and track group completely worn out. Same result with pretty much all equipment over 20 years old that I look at. But I also have a New Holland TC-55 I bought new in early 2000's and it ha...

Re: Virginia 450 Help

On cylinders I do it both ways. It's really pretty straight forward if you can get the outer gland off. Sometimes that is a real bear.To get that one blankety, blankety gland off when stuck: Clean down to metal or paint and look for the locking allen head set screw on the cylinder body at the gland(mi...

Hi Stan, I'll put it on my to do shelf :) Ram was at dealer getting serviced yesterday so I couldn't pick up the cylinder kits so i was fixing more drips.Main hydraulic pressure regulator had a good drip on bottom. Re: Alternator question on 410 TLB

Well the new alternator with new regulator from Mr. E-bay worked like a champ.13.6V at the battery when running at a high idle.Had to fix some bad wires but other than that seems good to go now.

Re: Virginia 450 Help

Your machine is supposed to have dry clutches and brakes: any oil in there? If there is that is your problem(seal gone). If your adjustment is bottomed out the bands are gone.I'm in Texas so can't offer a suggestion on a repair tech in your area. On using a JD shop: Yup, they do seem to be expensive...

Re: 350 TRACK ROLLER BOLTS

Low use personal farm machine: if the metric bolts don't work then go ahead and weld it. In the area of the stripped bolts run 1.5" weld on seam then make the corner and continue on with another 1.5". I would use 1/8" 6011 single pass with heat set for good penetration(125 Amps or so DC negative).Do...
