Re: 420c steering to the right...
No I have not aligned the tracks or counted track pads. However I do know it drove very straight before I replaced some steering clutch parts. And yes it steers either way when I pull the levers back. Its almost seems to drag on one side but the brake band is loose.

Well the reason I adjusted it is because it was slipping some on that side when I went to turn. No contaminates that I know of..

Re: John Deere 420c steering clutch slipping issues
No I did not rebuild this side I only adjusted the pressure plate and put an oil seal in. I did take all the discs and fibers out to see what they looked like but they looked ok so I put them back in. It must be the pressure plate, I just don't know why it worked and now it doesnt. But if you think ...

Re: John Deere 420c steering clutch slipping issues
It looks like the pressure plate is almost brand new but it could be an issue. how much can a fibre disk be worn down and still work? Over all width on the old set vs new set difference is almost the thickness of 2 fibre disks

John Deere 420c steering clutch issues
Hi so I am renovating the one steering clutch on my "58" 420c and I only counted 6 steel discs and 6 fibers when I pulled it apart, the other puzzling thing is there is not room for 8 of each.... Is this a problem or did they make some to take only 6 instead of 8? thanks a lot!
