Finally got the loader fixed a few weeks ago. It was the main line from the pump. I ended up abandoning the steel line fishing a hose through. Used it about an hour and now I think the headgaskets is bad. So that's another project

450 Loader track adjustment

I don't know a lot on out these machines, but I have a 450 track loader that the tracks are loose on, probably around 2 to 2.5" of droop on top. The adjusters are all of the way out. Is it possible to take a link/pad out and make up for the slack? I'm not sure where it would be worn elsewhere. The s...

Well it's Derby time here in Louisville and things have been crazy, so I haven't had a chance to dive into the loader yet. I'll update once I find where it's leaking.

Sounds like you lost the pressure line from the loader pump :( :( :( That's kind of what I thought, it hasn't been worked hard in a while, today was the first day. What does replacing/repairing that line entail? I assume belly pan has to come off? Sounds like i need to empty the bucket with the bac...

450 hydraulic leak

I have a 450 loader, I was cutting in a road through the woods and all the sudden lost loader hydraulics. When I got off fluid was pouring out from under the engine, around the middle of the machine. It is parked on a hill with the front end up, so it could be coming from the front (that's where the...

Can anyone tell me anything from the serial number? At first I thought you had seven digits in your serial number which would be weird, but it looks like it is just a scratch/blemish. Anyhow it appears from the number (083816) to be a 1969 straight 450. The combination of letters/number before the ...

Loader was delivered today, its nasty out didn't get much chance to check on the PTO shaft or the hydraulic remotes. I did not see any lever to control the PTO, so either it doesn't have one or it continually runs. I think it looks like a petty good machine, although I know almost nothing about them...

sounds like remote valve and its caped off That's kind of what I thought, what were these intended to run? Also where would the connections for it be? I wont have it here until tomorrow to look but I never saw a hose near the back that looked like a remote on a tractor. It also looks like there cou...

First track loader

I just bought a JD 450 track loader. I have run some newer cat machines, but this is my first experience with these older machines. From what I've read this should be a pretty good machine, anything to look for? I would put the undercarriage at 75% or better and it has brand new steering clutches. O...
