Dang we are old... I collected a bunch of Rube Goldberg parts to make a boring bar for my backhoe but never got a RoundTuit.

If your talking about the brazed spot, someone brazed it up to try and fill the gap of the worn out bushing. I turned the brazing down to the original diameter so it would fit the new bushing.

I did figure out today that for a slop free hole for the 5/16" spring pins you need to use a P bit for the parts that swivel on the spring pin and a 5/16" or a few thou smaller for the press fit hole. I need to replace a couple of track rollers and figure out how to replace the bushings that connect...

If my 350 was that close to taking the final drives out the decision would be simple to pull them out and go through the steering clutch and brakes. I guess it just depends on how much time you have and how quick you want to play in the dirt.

Being an engineer/machinist I can't force myself to use a masonry bit to drill a hole in steel when I want a specific size hole. On another note, I welded up one part (the U shaped part) and put it in my kiln and annealed it. I took it up to 1500°F over an hours time then let it soak 15 minutes. The...

The fill and drain plugs can be seen on the inner side of the final drives. The manual says it holds 3 quarts of 303.

Good write up and glad to be able to see the photos. I need to change my brake band bolts in my 350 and seeing the inside with the brake band in place helps.

Thanks

I weld cast iron all the time, you have to use the right rod and go real slow and peen the weld right after welding an inch to relieve the stresses. Any welding shop should have the right rods IIRC they cost me about $1 each last time I bought some.
