Is this the one you are referring to? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1959-John-Deere-440IC-Crawler-Traxcavator-Track-Loader-/261070759735?pt=Crawler_Dozers_Loaders&hash=item3cc907a737 First of all, run the other way!!!! JD did not call this a Traxcavator. It is a 440 IC with a beat up 91 loader. There is n...

Lavoy, I completely agree. My comments are based on usage. The TSC stuff looks, smells, flows, and acts exactly like the higher priced stuff. If I was going for top show quality, I would pay for the very best (not always the highest priced) materials. I am sure there could be some spec variances tha...

The Old Construction Yellow is indeed produced by Valspar. I ordered a case and it came in a box from Valspar. They say it is a "different formula" than the Valspar that TSC WAS selling but I doubt it. Unfortunately, TSC has stopped selling it. The only problem is the price. The dealer pays what the...

John, If the measure of honesty of a man was how nice he was, no man would be deemed dishonest. I have found that for the most part, the nicer they seem, the bigger crooks they really are. "Nice" is a learned art after many years of screwing people and looking them in the eye as if you are being tru...

If the buyer just wants to "play in the dirt" and knows what they are doing with crawlers, it would be OK. But not at that price. Look at the track adjusters and how far out they are. Deep grousers have a way of making a U/C look better than it really is. And yes, U/C's are serious money as things g...

I do not have data to support my opinion, only common sense. With a standard paper filter, we are pulling air through fine paper mesh, particles smaller than the smallest part of that mesh will get through. With an air bath, the air is less restricted since it is being pulled through a liquid. That ...

I agree also about not running junk U/C's unless you have all of the proper lift equipment and time to put tracks back on. The other point that was brought out, simply replacing worn sprokets or other single parts is almost worse than leaving it. Many of the U/C parts mesh togher so that if one is n...

John, I know very little about JD 350's but have been around tractors and equipment all of my life. NEVER rely on a tach reading unless you owned it from day one. Tach cables break, run for many hours and then maybe get replaced. Also, not just hours on a crawler, but like any equipment, the skill (...

There are no glow plugs on the GM 2-53. The only heat source is compression, unless you choose to add a block heater. There are two different kits that can be used. The "S" kit is 17-1 compression and is what JD speced for this crawler. I changed mine to the "N" kit which is 21-1 compression. It doe...

Not sure on the 40C, but 420C on up to 440C has a mouse cover on the bell housing. Open that cover and flash a light in there to find the throw out bearing. The grease zerk should be on the side where you can snake your grease gun hose in there and put a few pumps. Not too much or you create another...

I am pretty sure this link does not infringe on Lavoy's parts busness so I will post it.
Should there be any reason it should not be posted, you know what to do Lavoy.
