Re: 3315 winch

Visually confirm the brake cylinder is responsive to the spool valve. Increasing the pump pressure could have caused an o-ring failure with the spool valve in the winch-in circuit; therefore, causing a perpetual winch in situation. Other possibilities-worn brake springs (you have the correct adjustm...

Re: 3315 winch

Cold weather, snow, ice coming and going here in the upper Midwest. Yes, keep us posted. IIRC the pump pressure is bxt 800-1,000 psi. Use the correct ports as described above. They will likely be full of garbage and need purged before tested. The port to test the brake cylinder pressure is a blind c...

Re: 450c exhaust manifold smoke

Another problem I have encountered with these machines that causes a lot of exhaust smoke/exhaust leak is a wore out exhaust adapter Part # R 51736. This piece fits between the exhaust port of the turbo and the cast on exhaust elbow. When cold this adapter is loose, but when the engine reaches opera...

Re: 450c exhaust manifold smoke

After re-reading, the smoke is coming off the external surface of the exhaust manifold? I agree with the above comments regarding replacing lines, cleaning etc. When I rebuilt my engine, I replaced the injectors and upgraded the return lines to the newer Deere "40 series" return lines. These are rub...

Re: 450c exhaust manifold smoke

If the smoke is coming out of the exhaust, I would think about injectors. Could you provide more history. Had it sat for an extended time? What condition is the fuel. Air intake is good/clean? Any blowby? Good luck, Bruce

Re: birthday

I suspect the difference between your birthday being listed and not listed within the day is due to the difference in time. I'm sure that your time is based on Eastern standard time or Central standard time etc. Whereas this form uses coordinated universal time +1, UTC +1. As I type this is a 7:09 c...

Re: new owner with basic questions

My SN search agrees with your, 1979. Instead of tearing down your machine to look for the common sump conversion changes as outlined in the tech manual(HAHA-just kidding) I would confirm the transmission is at the full mark on the dipstick, the left steering oil level and right steering oil level ar...

Re: new owner with basic questions

By '79, I believe they were common sumps. IIRC, the owners manual suggests filling the rt and lt steering to full then filling the trans. Then operating and topping off the trans fill. Good luck, Bruce

Winch on eBay for 350

Not mine, but thought it might help someone on this forum. Bid starts at $200. I think in PA. eBay # 202231994610. It has the large handle with the hydraulic master cylinder to run the winch. Good luck, Bruce

Re: 3315 winch

IIRC there are two small allen head plugs in the bottom left side of the case. I believe the plug closer to the left/outside of the winch is a drain hole for the left case(that is to be dry and empty). The plug closest to the centerline of the winch is the test port for the brake cylinder. Since you...

Re: 3315 winch

You have confirmed the small Webster pump is putting out pressure with 750psi in the spool-in position. So we know the p/u screen is clean, the pump is working. I'm not able to recall from memory what the recommended operating pressure is supposed to be, but 750psi should be enough to free-spool. By...

Re: Clutch on JD450C

I'm not trying to add to the confusion. But I thought the 450C had a 2-stage clutch. When depressing the clutch, the first top part is stopping flow through the HLR shuttle and if you continue to depress the bottom part of the clutch your releasing the main engine clutch disk/pressure plate. When yo...

Oh yes, you are very fortunate to have extras you can use off another crawler. The hard nose mounts for the sweeps are going to be a challenge. I wish you happy collecting, Bruce

Re: JD 450b- Limb Risers Mounts

I needed an exhaust pipe for my limb risers, also. I didn't have a copy part. I did what gregjo1948 suggested. I ended up bending a 3/8" rod in the general shape etc. took it to the exhaust shop and had them bend a pipe. I took the pipe home and put it on. Every angle and bend was off abit. I starte...
