store parts..

I have a complete extra tranny and dif for my 420. If I keep it, I would like to store it in my shed. The case is broken so I can't just fill it with oil. I have a new case, but no time or inclination to switch it out. What would be a good coating to prevent rust? I'm thinking a good coat of grease ...

Rock guards

Did factory rock guards have wear strips welded on? Mine have and I am not sure if they were original or put on later. They look rather odd on the front where the strip goes above the regular plate. Almost looks like someone got strips for a 4 roller and put them on a 5 roller!! :?

Gus, I have some of the pieces done for the reverser tube and clutch pedal tube, just not enough of them to offer them complete. If need be, you can likely reuse some of your old parts along with what I have done to get you going. Lavoy I have 2 center sections and the second one isn't frozen. I am...

Plan A didn't work and plan B isn't working so far. I did split it and that in itself was a project. The reverser tube over a shaft control arm (must be removed to split) had the same problem as the one I'm trying to fix. After an hour of working on it, I got the tube off. So far heat and Wizz haven...

Lavoy, Don't know if you're still looking, but there's a "like new" (and looks it) M1A on a shotgun site. From the Springfield custom shop with all the goodies and extra mags for just over $2000.00 but it's been there a little while so the owner might be willing to deal. Very nice looking rifle with...

Lavoy, well, I have tranny and tube together sitting on the floor. And, yes, I'm fighting it. Haven't put any heat to it yet. I'm waiting for the tom cat wizz to do something. It that doesn't work it will be to plan b,c, or what ever comes next. I'm trying to avoid any damage to the clutch tube as I...

problem....

I'm doing some switching of parts on my 420. I need to remove and replace the pedals. The inner shaft (brake) is rusted badly to the clutch tube and I can't move it. I have looked at the parts list and know what's in there but.. It won't move. I have removed the brake pedal and gotten the clutch tub...

Is there a chance that rust/wear caused the shifter to get it in 2 gears at once? "shifter moved differently" previously stated.

Try moving the sliding gears by hand if the covers off. When the cover came off were the shifter fingers positioned correctly?

I'm not a diesel mech, but how hard would it be to switch #1 and #4(or 3/2) injectors? That would tell you more of what might be wrong, cyl or injector.

Any chance there's a big backhoe or, better yet, excavator around?? Removal of some of that slop would make life easier and may be give a tug too?? I had an excavator put a 40 with a light blade (dead one, one track off) on and off of a trailor for me and put it where I wanted it. Man did that take ...

Question,
In the last photo, what are the two long levers, low on the right of the dash, pointing horizontally and to the front?? Look like they have black round knobs on them. I've not seen anything like that before?? What do they do?

I did the same thing with a 400 about 15 yrs back. Got it in a couple of large pieces and several cardboard boxes  It had a freshly rebuilt hydro and I put a new engine in (23hp Kohler). 2 speed gear box plus hydro. Tripple hyd, front and rear pto's. It has a 60" deck, 60" mid mount hay mower. ...
