Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Thanks for the feedback 77 Ford. I am working on them all day again today. I hope to be warming the shop for paint hopefully tomorrow or Wed. I have to go to Seattle for three days on Friday. I would like to have paint curing before I leave. It's to cold for painting right now. It's an effort to mak...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

re: turbo oil line, oil pressure sending unit fitting. My 450B has it mounted on the forward bolt on the fuel filter mount. Thank you for posting. This is why lots of pictures are important. And when done with pictures, a long slow look for the memory. If it's currently working. Thank you!!

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Well I should post an update. I had hoped to be done with the 8 tray sets I am making by now, but I have a ways to go yet. I had an unplanned trip to central Montana and just returned last night. I did manage to get the rest of the metal, wood and yellow and black paint I needed before I left. So I ...

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I am stuck on something. I apparently did not take a good enough picture and the manuals are not helping. I need to ask you guys. The block that the turbo oil feed lines go through, and has the oil pressure sending unit screwed into it, where does it bolt to exactly?? This one. If someone could take...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Manuals are super helpful but don't always answer questions. I am getting back on the tool trays today. I have three bent up and ready for spot welding and 4 more to do. I should be getting a call today for the support strap material I had shipped in. I also have an unexpected trip to eastern Montan...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Well they are just 1/8 of an inch narrower. Hopefully undetectable to the eye. On the wood tray, I was pretty sure I had it in right. But you never know. :) I should be able to get a few more parts ready for welding and wood glue today. I am also hoping to land my freshly rebuilt and painted cylinde...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

I was just looking back to see who wanted what and noticed the ebay picture of the tool tray that has compartments was on the board the same way. Not really noteworthy since the new wood parts I am going to make will be a direct copy. I am still curious if it is really backwards. :)

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Hi Bruce, When I put all the parts in to test fit I messed with the wooden tray a few different directions. Since I did not know for sure. I took some pictures to show what I have here. The way it is now, the tool tray board only moves about 1/2 inch at best. The block in front keeps the metal tray ...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

OK guys, small issue. While fabricating my first one, I went for a test fit on my 450C. I was fortunate to still have one support strap on my machine and with Stan's support strap and board he sent I was able to try a test fit. I found an interference fit with even Stan's OEM tool tray. I am assumin...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Thank you for that info everyone. I am done drawing all the parts with dimensions for the file's. Next is fiber board patterns and start cutting out parts.. I hope to have a stack of newly made parts by the end of the weekend. I hope it warms up a bit when it is time for paint. 6 degrees this mornin...

Re: Help removing/dismantling a 450C starter

I know you found your solution by now. I put my starter in yesterday and it was not easy. The lower bolt is just out of finger reach. And you can't turn a wrench any significant amount to even get a bolt started. I tried just about everything and the solution was a 3/8 drive with 2 feet of extension...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Will do 77 ford. ******************************* I am having issues finding 3/8 plywood for the wood tray that is not warped. Seems I have a significant curve in every sheet. I may have to go to marine or cabinet grade. I will keep looking and find a solution. The other thing is.... When I get a req...

Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements

Absolutely... With the age, super mild corrosion and what looks like a re-coat of black paint, it is a bit flimsy.

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old

I took the cylinder head in today for some corrective work. I suspect the guides are out also. Then headed to another town for a gigantic hydraulic nipple for the supply side of the new pump. Long day driving. So with the clutch pressure plate staying consistent with each re-install, I put a dab of ...
