Sprocket Engineering

How much engineering is needed? The shape and thickness has already been determined. It sounds like engineering is getting a mold set for pouring new ones. Make a mold from a new (or good used) one and run with it. A good source of engineering might be a local university. They have students willing ...

Carb problems

It doesn't take much of a fuel flow to run an engine. Most only have a 1/4" line. First loosen the fuel line entering the carb a little to see if any drips appear. There might be an air lock. One can also remove the fuel line at the carb and it should piss a nice stream of fuel. Remove the air input...

Carb Match

The carb looks just like the one on a ford 8N tractor. Most likely the same manufacturer. Go to a tractor junk yard and buy another one. Or maybe check out the local farm supply (TSC) for rebuild kits. To clean, scratch out the rust that you see with a screwdriver. Pull all brass jets and blow out t...

Backhoe bracket

I am not sure what I have. What you see is what came with the dozer. I do not have a backhoe attachment.

It does appear to be a larger bracket with the counterweight bracket within.

My Son's Pictures

My son Matthew took the pictures. He is a senior at Wright State, Dayton, OH, and is majoring in Computer Graphics. He is quite handy with a camera and I asked him to take a few shots. I didn't know till later he snapped off 13 of them. Thanks to the digital camera age. Thanks for the compliment. Mark

2010 in Action

I bought this baby back in January to work on a rock pile, clear a fence line and other misc tasks. It has a stuck right steering clutch, but still moves. I have an organic farm and use composted poultry manure as fertilizer. My normal spreader guy farted out on me, so I ending up using the gray Sto...

2010 with loader weight

I ran a 2010 with loader across the scales back in Jan. It weighed in at 6.4 ton.

Not sure how much of that was loader.

Found the Problem

I looked under the steering clutch top plate and seen the steering linkage was all in place and working. I noticed the clutch internal springs did not move. I think the throw-out bearing has lost all its marbles. I also seen where someone added some spacers in the adjustment arm to get more stroke. ...

2010 steering arms

My 2010 needs some TLC. Right now when you depress the brake pedal, the right arm moves back. I heard the arms should not move at all. Is it possible to have some rusted connectors? I also noticed when you pull the left steering arm, you feel some clutch spring resistance. When you pull the right ar...

Found the Problem

My hyd leak ended up being the hyd cooler line to the radiator. I had to remove the front engine belly plate to see where it came from. Replaced 5 inches of hose and ready to go. Not a seal afterall.

Thanks

I will look for rusty parts. I am sure the clutch lever might help cold weather starting. All new to me.

Lift Lever under left foot

On a 2010, under my left foot is a lift lever (right angle bent rod). What does it do?

When I push the brake pedal, only the right side steer lever moves. Is this supposed to move the steer levers and is it supposed to be connected to both side brakes?

Wear Limits

I found a nice Internet site with wear limits for many dozer models, JD included. Goto www.crawlerheaven.com/wearlimits.htm

You have to type this in, I could not find a link from their home page.

I hope this helps.

2010 crawler/loader weight information

I just bought a 2010 crawler/loader and ran it across some scales on my way home. It weighed in at 6.4 ton. I seen several entries asking about weights. This dozer has low hours at 1700. I think it is correct because the bucket teeth has little wear as well as the undercarriage. It needs some TLC. I...
