Re: 1010c Diesel loader
I own several 2010 diesel crawlers (the bigger brother of the 1010s) so have some familiarity with them. First of all, resist the temptation to use starting fluid. I've done it myself and it is unlikely the glow plugs are working if you are using it, but you are risking cracking the precombustion ch...

Re: thinking newer truck
I am a big fan of the late 90s F250s and F350s with the 7.3L Powerstroke diesel (not the pre-95 indirect injection 7.3L). That Powerstoke is actually an International Navistar T444 engine and have been proven to be very reliable- both of mine are over 300K miles with no major problems. Being a V8 an...

Re: 1010 Model 310-820 serial 1837, info request
That serial data plate should be on the right ("passenger") side engine block about halfway up. Sometimes they get really coated with oil and dirt and can be hard to see, or if the engine has ever been swapped you may be SOL. In most cases, you usually don't need to have the exact serial number for ...

Re: 2010 CRAWLER TRACKS 1963 model
As you may or may not be aware, the individual track links (rails) for the "early 2010s (meaning prior to serial number 42,000) are the same as used for the 440 and 1010 crawlers- unfortunately those crawlers use fewer links than a 2010 so finding enough of them to create a complete 2010 track with ...

Re: Shop floor options
I'll throw these other ideas out there even though they may not be cost-effective or desirable for you; some require fine gravel surfaces prior to application: -asphalt (although presumably you considered that in conjunction with concrete) -"self binding" aggregate -salt application (such as mag or ...

Really sorry to hear this CuttingEdge- you seem like a really nice guy. I will say this- I have a number of friends and family with cancer right now and depending on the type can have a good prognosis. I'll add you to my prayers.

If 2010Jim is still checking this board, it might be nice to hear an update on parting out as I had previously expressed interest in some parts he had not gotten to yet.

I would also suggest the Yesterday's Tractors bulletin board- they discuss a wide spectrum of heavy equipment.

Re: Question about crawler 810-820
The serial number plate for the 1010 should be on right hand side engine block when sitting on crawler; there is a small flat spot on the block about halfway up to down on block and about 1/2 way back. The 2010 serial number plate may either be in same location as 1010 (for early crawlers less than ...

OMG- I am glad to hear in the scheme of things that you are coming out relatively OK. All of us that cut wood I think have been in a position where we got lucky because trees don't always behave the way they should. I have to cut some wood again this week so a good reminder for me to be extra careful.

Antler Boy- There are a number of posts from several years back where we discussed sources of used replacement engines for 1010 crawlers- the obvious ones were other 1010 crawlers, and 2010 crawlers if you wanted a reasonable power upgrade. However other sources included wheel tractors, combines, et...

Sorry about multiple posts but just learned about the debug mode issue. Anyhow one other thing to know is that source of steering clutch parts is critical to this repair holding up they are not all equal and some brands and sources simply will not hold up. It may be helpful to tell us why you suspec...
