also are you pushing the clutch in when you try to start it heavy tranny oil can really make it turn over hard in cold wheather

I had one that came apart easy and one that was impossible to get apart. I would try the bottle jack and if you have acces to an electrect jack hammer put a piece of metal between it and your track frame and see if you can jar it loose. They can really be froze up.

With what Lavoy just said I have one that I converted to an alt. and will not do any more unless I don't care about the machine. I have changed the bendix on it countless times and of course I'm sure by now the ring gear is a lot of the problem. I have seen other people change them and not have the ...

All good things to check but since it run for over 2 hours I would also check for something floating around in the fuel tank.

It more then likely is the clutch pack unless you see something busted or the sprocket is real loose (pry with a spud bar) you didn't say if it was a power 6 way or manual power 6 ways can bring $2500 by themselfs if there in really good shape nor did you say if the undercarraige is in good shape ho...

I think it was 2 or 3 green magazines back that the tractor doctor talked about changing a 4 speed to a five speed you may look at that article.

John when you mention 3 point hitch is yours different from this one it looks like you could get by with a drawbar or am I missing something. Thanks Howard
