Make sure you check the lift pump, the oring can fail and fuel can get into the oil from the lift pump.

Re: 450 loader with backhoe on Birmingham Craigslist
WOW! What a find. Would love to have the whole machine or at least the clam shell bucket. Way far out of my area.
Thanks for the heads up.

Re: JD 450C no crank
Any thoughts about a new gear reduction starter we discussed earlier? I have been down your path, also. I thought I should stick with OEM. After the starter was in and out and remanufactured and out again, I needed my crawler to be much more dependable. After the new starter went in, the crawler has...

For safety reasons this is an excellent time to clean the belly pans. When was the last time they were cleaned?. Anyone ever seen a dozer/loader belly pan fire?

Could it be a faulty circuit breaker under the dash cluster? Number 27 on the parts diagram.

Re: JD 450C no crank
It sounds like your problem is in the starter. So jumping the silonoid posts may not help as your problem is “more downstream “. So you would not ground the starter you would jump the battery cable (large post on the starter) to the small post ( wire coming from the ignition switch and start push bu...

Re: JD 450C no crank
Sounds like a faulty starter. I updated to a reduction drive and love it. Starts much quicker, more torque. The starter sounds like a Toyota now.

I recommend rebuilding the reverser. The isolator and springs in good condition? Correct no clutch, isolator.

Re: 350c thrown track
It is possible your adjuster has perished and is frozen. Try compressing the idler and adjuster. But if it doesn’t compress with reasonable force, the adjuster will need serviced, rebuilt, replaced.

Re: 450 B or C
Okay. For clarification. The plugs on the back of the machine(1/2 way down the final drives) are gear oil for the finals. This oil never touches the steering or transmission. The drain for these finals are under the machine. One plug for left one plug for right. These are in the final drive sump (ca...

Re: 450 B or C
While standing at the side of the machine and facing the sprocket/final drive, look about two inches above the top of the final case and about 10 inches in front of the case toward the front of the machine. If you see a triangle shaped cover held in place by three bolts, you have a “B” series. If no...

Water is the best solution to break the corrosion bond between the drum and shaft. This may not work the greatest with the hydrophobic liquids now in play.
Brute force with a bigger puller is okay, but you have to disrupt the bond first. My humble opinion
The 555 project looks very nice.
