350 Brake Band Bolt

Well I finally got the floor plates in the correct position (someone ran a 1" hydraulic hose on top of the reverser) and adjusted the steering clutches and brake bands and she turns like I expected her to turn. I'm a happy guy! Both brake band adjustment bolts have been replaced by whatever junk the...

350 Traction

I have at least 1 idler on each track that is shot and plan on changing them out. But in the mean time I pushed a little dirt the other day and didn't have as much traction as I expected. I have welded on grouser repair strips.

Does the worn out track roller reduce the traction?

Thanks

Yea, I need to replace a couple of track rollers ASAP and get the clutches/brakes adjusted. Sure is different to drive than anything else I've operated (my first time driving a dozer was loading the 350 on a friends trailer to bring her home).

JD 350

I've been working off and on for a few months on my JD 350 and finally pushed some dirt yesterday. The blade pivot is worn as well as the joy stick mechanics... gotta work on that. I rebuilt the dash with all new instruments and had the alternator checked and damn if it wasn't a 24v alternator. I ha...

Can you get the joystick off without taking the valve loose from the mount?

Thanks

If you find any parts for the joy stick that would be cool. I plan on just rebuilding mine from scratch. I had to do the same thing on my JD310A backhoe wobble sticks. Much to my amazement it looks like the bushings can be ordered...

If you can jump from the battery cable to the start terminal on the solenoid and she cranks then the problem lies in the wires from the battery through the start switch to the start terminal. I've see wires that are broken in two but the insulation still holds them together and they metered out fine...

Yes, a meter can show voltage even on a wire that can not pass any amperage. In plain English there can be a bad spot that limits current to the point that there is not enough to pull in the solenoid even if you can read 12v with a meter.

If the starter cranks when you jump it out but not with the key, start at the key switch with your multi-meter and find the break in the circuit. It's all about divide and conquer, find the point that 12v + is and keep looking for the place it stops. 12v + -------| |-------- Coil Start terminal---- ...
