Re: JD 450 crawler won't stay running

It's sad that a machine that size is rendered disable from a $30.00 part. Good luck rebuilding the pump. If it's your first pump rebuild, pay very close attention to how it's disassembled. There are about 1,000,000 parts in there and they seem to need to be reinstalled properly. I've gotten to the ...

Re: JD 450 crawler won't stay running

Because more often than not the check valve gets plugged by the breakdown of the pellathane-plastic weight retainer ring. If the check valve blockage is cleared and the source of the plugging is not addressed in number of cases the injector pump failed and some cases the shaft snapped. It's well doc...

If the check valve solves the short term problem, it's not the long term solution.

Re: JD 450 crawler on't stay running

As suggested search for mouse turds. Been there, done that. Here's a post listing some of the parts needed. As

Re: JD350 fuel injection issue

If you got the part number off of it you may be able to find one on Ebay, a number of people offer them for less money than it takes to rebuild one in the condition of your's, broken shaft. That generally means the head unit seized.

Re: 450B throw out bearing return spring

It would be sort of like building a ship in a bottle, it could probably be done but pulling the engine you know where it's at when you drop it.

Re: JD450 Hard Nose Removal

Also, FWIW I change the trans cooler filter every other time I do an engine oil change. Both are generally before the suggested change interval. I have enough problem with me braking things, I don't need stuff breaking because of poor maintenance on my part.

Re: JD450 Hard Nose Removal

That's one way of holding up the bucket. Trans filter, which looks like it hasn't been changed in quite some time, is the same as the oil filter. You want to take care of the HLR Trans.... FYI check the radiator mounts which are rubber and most likely junk. Also, pull the pump coupling back and put ...

Re: 1982 450 c fuel tank screen

If your finding the mouse turds/crap in the pump and check valve it isn't a normal clean it out and it will be fine thing. It means the pellathane ring is coming apart. Short them is to clean the crud out to the check valve, long term is get the pump repaired. If not, it will eventually seize and bu...

Re: Replacing Springs on Pressure Plate 450

Don't know about most, but, if I've gone through the trouble and effort to get to the offending unit or pressure plate in this case, I'm going to replace it. My time is valuable to me. Mine had a bad starter drive, I replaced the compleat starter with a newer gear reduction for about the same money ...

Re: JD 450C loss of power when put in gear

Correct way (Readers Digest Condensed version) to remove the injector pump is 1st remove the little cover off the side of the injector pump, 2 screws hold it on. Underneath is where the timing marks are, turn the engine over counterclockwise as viewed from the flywheel end until you see the timing m...

Re: JD 450C loss of power when put in gear

Check/replace fuel filters and search Mouse turds. I've had both situations but it sounds like the governor ring coming apart and plugging the check valve in the cover.
