Thanks, I didn't even think of brazing - it sounds the way to go and will give the area extra preheating. My biggest worry was blowing right through with the stick welder if the cast iron was thin and making an even bigger hole, so now I don't have to worry about that.

Thanks again,
Paul

1010 Exaust Manifold Repair Question

I have a small hole, about 1/8" dia, right in the top of my exaust manifold. I am thinking of welding it shut as it is easy to get to right on the machine, is this a good idea? Should I use a special cast iron rod or any other special procedures.

Thanks
Paul

I checked it, AT13156, several times, 0-0.5 all the way down (empty) and 30.2 - 30.5 all the way up (full). So I would say it is a 0 - 30 ohm sender. I looked online and my Deere Ag Dealer has them listed for $64.90 and my Deere Construction dealer has them listed for 80.84. I always check both, bec...

I have a new one in the box I can check for you with my digital meter, will post tonight. I thought it was 0-30 ohms, but will check.

You do really nice work - I don't know of many Ag 1010's restored like you will have. Certainly something to be proud of - keep the pictures coming.

Probably nothing is special other than it is a grade 8 for strength at 5 1/2 or 6 7/8, these are alot of the same bolts that hold the swinging drawbar bracket in place. I added one on my 1010. The first ones went all the way through with a nut and then later a shorter bolt was used cause the hole wa...

I use the higher sulfur off road stuff that is dyed red. I think it used to have over 1000 ppm of sulfur, but now is down to 500 ppm due to the EPA. Coincidently, 500 ppm is what road diesel used to have. Current road diesel has only 10 or 50 ppm sulfur, or some other low number, I forget. It is the...

Just an FYI since I have been getting many questions on EBAY about my reserve; The highest price I paid was $340 ea from a dealer plus shipping and packaging and my reserve is set at 25% above that. You all probaby know that most parts you all buy are marked up much more than that. Sorry, but the lo...

Carolina Crawler, I to feel your pain and I have 4 kids, two in college, two with braces and a wife who looks at me suspeciously whenever I start flipping through my collection of JD parts catalogs. One thing my wife does say though, is at least my JD habit keeps me at home, instead of in the bars o...

I have never had a track slip off, and it sounds like I don't want to have to put one on back on in the field. What tips can you guys offer to avoid the tracks from slipping off.

Thanks

Keep the pictures coming - taking that thing apart gear by gear is tough to put back together, take lots of pictures, notes and keep everything laid out in a logical order of reassembly. Looks like you have done a great job so far and am looking forward to more posts of re-asembly.
