Re: 450c hlr adjustments

Lavoy may know of a kit but at the price of things I doubt there is a total rebuild kit. Most people be inspecting and replacing what is needed. They may not all need the same parts to repair them. You would need to go through the 450C parts catalog online to see if they offer any kits for individua...

Re: JD 350 C Issues

The E, after the 350C, tells that it left the factory as a diesel with the inside bulldozer.

A leaking hose in a steering clutch housing or a leaking seal in a steering clutch can be the cause of the oil transfer.

Re: Where to get a ROPS for a 450B? Salvage yard suggestions?

Welcome to the Boards. While you are waiting for a good answer, I'll give you some thoughts. I am on the east coast so don't have any names in my pocket beyond suggesting you call Lavoy; he might have some thoughts. PartsASAP bought Yesterday's Tractor in Washington state, and PartsASAP operates som...

Re: 450c hlr adjustments

Looking back at your posts it appears you have been having troubles for quite a while. It is possible you have some bad/weak seals; adjustment can't fix those. The best I can offer is to do all the diagnostic tests and carefully make all the adjustments, in the order given in your 450C manual, one m...

Re: JD 350 C Issues

Welcome to the Boards. First thing is, have you confirmed by serial number it is a C model? If so, it is a wet clutch machine and a leak somewhere in the steering clutches can transfer fluid from the reverser to transmission/steering clutches as they are likely a common sump. A quart an hour of engi...

Re: Can someone help me identify year 450

Welcome to the Boards. That appears to be the serial number for just the loader attachment, not the crawler. A dealer might be able to get some info on the year of it, but I doubt asking would amount to much. I believe the E (after the SN) stands for Equipment as I see that on some JD attachments, l...

Re: Early 40c Track Sizes

I agree on the track pads. They are all on the same page with varying quantities based on the number track rollers. Sorry, I wasn't clear in mentioning the serial numbers; my serial number comment was in regard to Canuck 420C saying only the later crawlers were covered in the parts catalog. It appea...

Re: Early 40c Track Sizes

What are you looking for serial numberwise? The FAQ section here gives 60001 as the first serial number for the 1953 crawlers (3 rollers) and track parts are shown in that parts catalog for that serial number and after. Somethings, like track shoes, are mixed in the lists with the later crawlers but...

Re: Early 40c Track Sizes

Here is a link to the online parts catalog on the JD parts site. Looks like it covers them, starts with serial number 60001 (beginning in 1953).

Re: 73 450b low pressure in reverse

I admit I don't have all the answers and hopefully someone will have a magic answer for you to use it to fix without getting inside the HLR. The HLR clutch control unit is mounted inside the Range Change (HLR) compartment (there is a picture in the manual of its location). Drawings show, and it is d...

Re: 73 450b low pressure in reverse

From your description it sounds like bad sealing of the reverse clutch circuit, possibly the clutch seals. TM1033 has a group (25) in the General (10) Section giving separation and installation procedures for the various components. The power train section has a pretty good rundown of the hydraulic ...

Re: 73 450b low pressure in reverse

It could be seal failing in the reverse clutch. Have you done all the diagnostic tests in the manual and know the pressure is correct everywhere else? It is great if you have a 450B with only 1631 hours on it. Were those hours verified by the owners prior to you? My thought the current hourmeter may...

Re: A visit

Glad to see you stopped by. Hope you are doing well. You helped many people over the years. I sold my 430 with a Gearmatic 8A. Got a 450E as I needed something heavier. For puttering around and getting wood out in the winter, I wish the 430 was still around. It would wiggle through smaller roads. Th...

Re: 450 Front Idler

Welcome to the Boards. What is the John Deere publication number of the manual you are using. Generally, they have specification sections that give you the ID. OD etc. of parts like the idler bores and bushings and shafts. Technicians need those dimensions to determined reuse, repair or replace wear...
