I heard that that HGR, or another one like it was for sale for $10,000 a while back. I looked at the auciton just before it closed and it was just under $10,000. I can't believe that it went that high, I never expected that. Sure would have been a neat little crawler to have.

420 has a water pump, 40 does not. There are lots of other ways, but that is the fastest.
420 above 100,000 has 8 bolts bolting the sideframes to the track clutch housings.

There is no website that will list it. Only thing you can do it look for individual literature pieces, or find one of the Allied Aftermarket Supplier books, but they are spendy.

I would doubt that the blades were installed at the factory, they would have been a dealer installed item. Deere had a large number of manufacturers that were consedered "Allied Aftermarket Equipment" manufacturers. What this meant is that their equipment was certified for use on John Deere tractors...

You used to be able to get them, but they were like $200 or more. I am not sure if they are still available or not. If you want, I can check.

Engine clutch kits are $200 with rebuilt pressure plate, $240 with new one. Includes new throwout bearing and clutch disc, whichever pressure plate you want.

Bearing kit price doesn't sound too bad. You might be suprised at an outside suppliers price, they may not beat the dealer as bad as you think.

Is there a flywheel cover on the bottom like on a gas crawler that needs to be removed?
Push in the clutch just for the heck of it and see what happens, might wiggle something loose.

I doubt in our worst areas we have it as bad as you for permits, but anywhere near the cities, permits are required. Right where I am at, I would need permits to do an addition or something like that. At the farm, you maybe are supposed to have one, but no one cares, and no one checks up on it. Thin...
