Re: City people, gotta love them, or laugh at them

I have a foggy memory of living in Pleasantville, my dad was skidding logs with a little John Deere for a company, if I remember, named Young. We have bears here too. They are a bit more aggressive than the cougars and always exceptions but usually, they all would rather run away. It's the sasquatch...

Re: 450B

I'd keep it stock then. You'll probably get higher resale value than a custom build.

Re: 450B

Not to be discouraging, but wouldn't be easier to get a 'C' model? I think after you were done, you would basically have a non-turbo C.

Re: Regular Hy-Gard or Low Viscosity Hy-Gard

Ouch, $180 per 5 gallons, I bet the dealer probably did quote that much. I'm getting the hygard @ $45ish and plain 303 @ $38ish at the mart of walls.

EDIT: Math, I fail at it. $36 gal, $160 bucket. Still icky.

Re: Woman steals Bulldozer and Crashes into Building

Mine starts with a key and the horn button. I think somewhere along its lineage, someone rewired it with fencing pliers, a dull butter knife and some torn strips of cloth.

Of course, it's different than anything else I have so you just go thru all the combinations to fire it up.

Re: Woman steals Bulldozer and Crashes into Building

I'll leave the keys in mine, just in case some topless woman wants to joyride in it.

It doesn't have much fuel so it won't be a long drive but it would be epic!

Re: Setting clutch on a JD450

Very cool! Am heading out to get a bigger lever for the lugs on the sprocket. If I can't get them loose, then the rest won't matter. I got this from my dad, it uses half inch drive and a 3/4 socket with a planetary gear set. I first used a 6-foot pipe on the sprocket bolts and broke a socket. With ...

Re: Final drive

My manual also didn't say to use a sealant and I didn't. Clean it and torque it.

I won't say there isn't seepage though. I highly doubt I will ever have a rust problem on the belly pan.

Re: Poor power from a 450()

I won't pull out to pass someone unless I have a long straight slightly downhill stretch to let it wind out.

Mine will run 4H on the flat. Its quite the cacophony and I've stated before, both frightening and exhilarating at the same time. Kind of like skydiving out of a burning aircraft.

Re: Low track power

Howdy!

My 'b' book says 170 to 180 PSI warmed up to temp @1800 RPM and you already sound familiar with the shims in the clutch valve.

There also should be a pressure differential across the cooler as well.
