Re: high/low to reverse shift

Welcome to the Boards. Yes, speed of shift can be adjusted. The 450E has a two-volume set of Technical Manuals. TM1330OP is the Operation and Test Manual used to check operating specifics, adjustments and diagnostics. It has the info on adjusting the speed of shift and other adjustments that may nee...

Re: Engine temperature gauge 450E

Welcome to theboards. Check the temperature at the left rear of the head where the temp sender for the engine is located and also check the temp of the head behind the outlet neck to the radiator when the gauge is showing hot. If those are less than 175 up to about 200 degrees you most likely have a...

Re: Hydralic Oil Filter Light

Sounds like cold oil is triggering the light. If it stops coming on after running a bit, that is likely the cause. Only running 15 minutes to half hour really is not getting it warmed up enough for it to clear condensation from oils and gearboxes. You might not have many hours on the filter but it m...

Re: John deere 350b only cuts one way

Did you check the condition of the splines in the hub the ring gear rides on and on the shafts, out and through, the final drive?

Does it have power assist steering and is all in related linkages moving properly?

How many steel discs and how many friction discs did you install?

Re: John deere 350b only cuts one way

What was the reason that you overhauled the right steering clutch? Did you use the JD7 gauge to set the pressure plate fingers when you assembled it? As dtoots1 mentioned, try a complete step by step adjustment of the steering clutch and brake. Rule adjustment error or slippage out before tearing it...

Re: fuel additive

Along with what Stan posted. What are you running the fuel in? Where are you located? Are you running a premium off-road or on-road diesel fuel or a bio-diesel blend? Or are you using heating fuel oil? Is the fuel blended for the ambient temperatures? Are you using 5-gallon cans, a transfer tank, or...

Re: John deere 350b only cuts one way

Pulling a lever disengages the steering clutch and applies the brake, the opposite side should continue to drive, to turn the crawler in the direction of the pulled lever. You pulled the left lever, it stopped driving. The right was supposed to keep turning to "push" the crawler to the left. You als...

Re: Straight 550 hour meter

I looked at my 450E manual and the hour meter wiring shows in the wiring diagram and the section on gauges and instruments. I don't know if the T1108 manual has a section on the gauges and instruments, but it should have a wiring diagram showing the hour meter. An hour meter hook up is simple. You h...

Re: Blade compatibility

I agree with Lavoy. I think you would need to sit down with the 6405 Bulldozer blade parts catalog and the 550 parts catalog and compare all mounting and frame parts. Some parts may be the same. I am fairly certain the angling and blade components are different but might work if the C frame and moun...

Give Lavoy a call (701-361-1006 during CST business hours). I expect he will have the correct parts to fix you up.

Re: compatibility between 420c and 430c

Lavoy and others will likely be along with more info, but as far as i know a number of parts can be swapped back and forth between them. You can use the online parts catalog to compare specific parts if you want. Below is a link to PC05 which has both in it, in case you don't have a parts catalog. 4...

Re: 450() power steering.

I don't think the flow divider is compensation for an undersized pump. It is a way to control an open center hydraulic system to allow the use of the two steering valves simultaneously, if needed. It also can give smoother engagement as the flow divider moves to restrict flow and increase pressure o...

Re: 450() power steering.

When a lever is pulled the flow divider moves to partially close off the flow to the opposite steering valve. Restricting the flow to the unused valve causes the system pressure to rise in the valve/cylinder being used. If that did not happen the oil will take the path of least resistance which woul...
