Re: Looking for 450 tool tray pictures or measurements
Very curious. Stan -thank you for the pictures and lending the tool tray bits. I have a remnant of the very same board with the lug nailed to one end. I always thought it was owner made. But now that I see yours, I suspect it was added by Deere through a safety/service bulletin. The board is not lis...

1977 450C trackloader main clutch R/R
Hello fellas, I have run out of clutch pedal adjustment to maintain the proper clutch pedal free travel. I have owned this trackloader for 15 years. There are ~5,000 hours on the machine. It operates very well, including shift. I have done a lot of mechanic work on it through the years. Trying to ke...

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box
Good morning. Appreciate the up date and work you have done. Couple of things about using the cover (you may already know these but I thought I would review them, if not for us maybe future site users. The throttle must be in the slow idle position. The ignition key must be removed from the instrume...

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box
Good evening Oldmetalmender, The vandal guards look great. Did they fit well on your machine (once you took off the washers). I appreciate the “body work” and coating on my OEM cover. Thank you for the excellent work. Still looking for a tool tray. I would like an OEM tray. If I find one , do you ha...

Silver solder to fix it. That is the process used to attach the swivels to the ends of the solid pipes. I don’t have a used resource.

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box
The post for the padlock does not have any washers. I have looked a my three 450C’s, and they all have the same eyelet. There is shoulder built into the base of the eyelet (where the padlock passes through and locks). That base is ~3/8” in diameter and approximately the same thickness as 16 ga metal.

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box
Sorry to hear you have taken Ill. I wish you a speedy recovery.
Yes, I would like your coating. No need to protect the edge for me. I will look at the padlock post, as you requested, this weekend.
Get better, Bruce

Re: JD450C third head gasket This is getting old
I have two questions. 1975 JD450C 6 way blade. If I remove hoses to replace them from the hydraulic control valves just forward of the hydraulic tank, especially the main pressure line from the pump, will it drain the tank? Should I drain the oil before doing some hose replacements? OK three questi...

Re: Vandalism guard and tool tray insert for the left box
I understand. Mother Nature always requires attention. I would say our winter has been relatively “open”. A hand full of snow storms. Not much accumulation. We did have 2” of rain in January, that was quite unusual. We have been able to use the corn stalk fields as roughage for the cattle. Good to h...
