Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration

Thanks, agree about the compromised system. By raising the bucket I meant a foot or two so the machine can be moved without dragging the bucket.

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration

Other than cold starting the only other reason I can think of for disconnecting the hydraulic pump would be if you blew a line along the chassis. (not a cylinder line) After raising the bucket with the last gasp of hydraulic fluid you could disconnect the pump and limp to the trailer without burning...

Re: JD 420c crawler

On my 450C, I can collapse the track tensioner and with come-a-longs, steel tooth picks and swearing I have successfully remounted a track without breaking it.

Good luck, you will find new and creative combinations of "special" words.

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration

I just did a complete undercarriage rebuild on my JD450C trackloader. You might try these folks, they had all the parts I needed in stock. If you give them a part number, odds are they have it even if it is not on the web site.

Re: 450C track loader hose replacement question

The curl steel tubes were not perfectly lined up with the opening in the top of the tower. The steel part of the hose connector presses on the tower so you can not start the thread. Once the steel line was out, the hose threaded on just fine and I could get the assembly in easily. Also, I could use ...

Re: 450C track loader hose replacement question

Here is the long overdue report. Sorry, no photos, but the layout of the hoses and piping is very obvious once you look at it. Once we finished the undercarriage replacement I started on the hoses. Lifted the boom by putting it in "float" and lifting with an excavator that my neighbor just happens t...

Re: 350B loader Arm bushings, pins and lever arms rebuild

What would be a good grade of steel to use for fabricating pins?

Re: 450C track loader hose replacement question

Thank you to all for the suggestions. Currently replacing the track assembly on that side and then will lift the bucket with a chain fall and attack the hoses. Looks like there will be enough room once lift cylinder is strapped and retracted. I suspect I will use some new and interesting combination...

450C track loader hose replacement question

I have a 450C track loader and blew the lift cylinder hose between the cylinder and the block where it changes to steel. The hose is completely surrounded by the loader pedestal and looks like a right proper bi*&h to get out. Anyone have any suggestions as to the best (easiest) way to access the hos...

Re: 450C Undercarriage replacement parts

I am replacing the undercarriage on my 450C and have gotten most parts from Broken Tractor. Most of the bolts were locally sourced at a commercial nut and bolt house. Nice people, good service, everything seems to be in stock. Good luck, have your gas axe handy for the rock guard and roller bolts. R...

Re: Adding a 2nd directional control valve

Building on Jim B's thought, My 450Ctrackloader came with an unused spool on the side of the control valve set for the bucket. It is capped off just waiting for hoses and a handle to be attached to control a 4 in 1 bucket or grapple.
