Re: JD 450B - no vin tag
There are many different ways to route hyd to your ripper. If you look inside the right box, with the hyd 6 way blade, you can see your hyd valve control stack. Sometimes there is an extra unused stack that you could plumb into. You may have to add a lever if you don’t already have one coming up out...

Third option. Keep your crawler as a donor. Buy a good B series and you have a abundance of parts. This is what I did. Retired tired iron, keep them, but upgraded to better machine.

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration
Pump shop may have some screws laying around. I think it would be proper to have the low and high set at the pump shaft.

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration
The link to the parts diagram shows two idle screws. If I am following you correctly the screw in the back position nearest the operator is for fast idle. Mine is set at 2,500 fast idle. Rarely need that much snort. On my 60 acre place, I can do the majority of work in the 1,500 - 1,800 RPM. Best re...

Do you have a Roosa Master injection pump? There should be two set stews on the injection lever. One for slow idle one for fast idle.

Re: JD 450B - no vin tag
A Straight 450 had the 202 Diesel engine. The HLR was between the legs of the operator. Here is a link to a 450 Straight HLR parts diagram. https://partscatalog.deere.com/jdrc/sidebyside/equipment/64777/referrer/navigation/pgId/171226 The 450B had the same type of HLR setup ( between the operator’s ...

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration
Good news on the HLR. I have found when it gets frustrating and are running into issues, sometimes it is best to step back and look at the most basic aspects of the issue. Couple questions, can you confirm the 1,2,3,4 did not grind before your work. Again, just trying to isolate when the issue may h...

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration
Let me give a little back story. My 1978 450C (I have owned for 15+ yrs) started to grind gears 1,2,3,4. It would do it intermittently with no real reason. HLR seemed to work fine. Well eventually like many things that are mechanical the problem worsened, now to include main clutch slipping. So out ...

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration
Have you confirmed to shaft coming forward from the H-L-R to the clutch is actually loose and moves forward and back as the clutch pedal is run through the free travel? If the shaft is not moving, the hydraulics continue to work and will not allow the smooth shifting of the mechanical 1,2,3,4 transm...

Re: How to bleed air from a 350c/ or fuel problems
Check valve is to keep pump full but not over-pressured. Have you confirmed the return line is clear all the way to the fuel tank?. Check vale let’s fuel leave the pump to prevent too much pressure, while keeping the pump full.

Re: How to bleed air from a 350c/ or fuel problems
The ball inside the check valve is clear. It can be had to see if it is really in there or not. The ones on my machines can be disassembled.

Re: '73 - 450B Crawler/Loader/Hoe Restoration
There is a set screw on the motor side of the injection pump. The set screw has a jam nut, this is what you need to adjust to get full throttle range. Idle is 850 IIRC.
