Re: 440ic steering clutches
Yes engine hoist most practical....though really needs a nice smooth floor...are a bit awkward....get crawler up on solid wood blocks or jackstands but watch placement for the lift legs...my 420 was actually put (glued) to tranny with red gasket sealer....I had to use wood shims all around the thing...

GalenB, Welcome to the board...first thing is...do you have any manuals for it, if not contact Lavoy, owner of this site...he constantly works on these things and sells parts for them. Now, to get into needs....first look thru the top cap and bung cap to visually inspect and see if there is oil, deb...

RE..previous post Anyone got idea on the right steering? This is old, cruddy..dry now...filled the square holes in plugs etc.. stuff that looks like it may have come down from the half moon shaped cover plate...perhaps a bad gasket on cover plate? Cannot see above it as tranny just above...steering ...

Re: 350B steering brake lever question
Not sure in the 350s..if same as 420 and 440 series....believe you might be talking about the brake adjustment...rocker arm?...mine does have a woodruff key as well as a capscrew that tightens (pinchers) around the shaft...they do have a tendency to break the casting (pincher) and become loose and t...

Re: jd420 pics
Was looking at seats on my cub cadet and jd mowers....they have flip forward seats...cadet has folding arm rests...they would appear to be a bit "dangerous" due to front end slams down over any slight rise....though possible to clip seat from flipping w/lockdown til needing flip...though will certai...
