Re: how to align the steering clutch before attaching the pressure plate.

When people say 450C it often gets questions as many straight 450s have been passed off as C series. C in some early model's serial numbers meant crawler as Lavoy posted, and people added that C to the 450, where it did not belong. That may have been the case with the video you watched. There are ma...

Re: JD 1010C Diesel

You will want to get the right manuals, I expect Lavoy can help you with those. In the mean time there is a wheel tractor service manual (SM2033) you can use on line at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B9-7bn5CX9NDSG5FaFZqY0NZUUE . The electrical is section 100. I would say it is close enough...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

You can get grease fittings (zerks) at any auto parts store along with dealers and other parts suppliers. I would recommend getting Lincoln or Alemite brand fittings if you can. Take an old one with you just to be sure of the threads on them. I don't know if JD used metric for the European machines ...

Re: how to align the steering clutch before attaching the pressure plate.

Charlie, Not to doubt you ability to do this, but to help you understand things, you might want to get in touch with Lavoy and get the right technical manual (John Deere publication # TM1102) for the machine to study before you dive into this project. If it is really a 450C, it will have wet clutche...

Re: JD 450 tune up (Euro Market)

Here is a picture of the angle iron I use for a safety support on my 2030. Yours would be similar other than your cylinder is mount so the rod extends out the top. The factory ones are usually made of bent U-channel. http://jdcrawlers.lcent.com:8000/johndeere/albums/userpics/10023/DSCN0513.JPG I wil...

Re: 450B shifting speed

Check, and adjust the clutch pedal free play before doing any thing to the valve stop nut. Once the free play is correct then do the valve stop nut adjustment.

Re: 450B shifting speed

It is worse for the transmission clutches for it to be too slow and soft. 1.5 second is the average time for a correct setting shown in the manual. Again there are a couple other adjustments they say to check before making the needle valve adjustment. The manual lays it all out.

Re: 450B shifting speed

Do you have the Technical Manual TM1033 for your 450B? The adjustment procedure is in the manual and there are a couple others they say to do first. If you don't have a copy there is one on line you can download for free(one of very few). Here is a link to the site it is on. https://archive.org/deta...

Re: 420C Points and Condenser part numbers?

If you can't wait for parts from Lavoy, he will have good quality ones (quality of many ignition parts at parts stores has slipped the past few years), you can find the John Deere part numbers in the online parts catalog. They show the Delco numbers in some cases. Here is a link, you can click on, t...

Re: troubleshooting/operation of ripper 450b dozer

Welcome to the board. Your posts for your 450B should be on the Late Models Board in the future. This one will likely get moved over there when Lavoy or a moderator see it, so don't think it was removed from the site. I would start by following all the hoses from ripper to selector valve to next val...

Re: 350B steering/drive issue

My guess is old parts with different wear patterns on them have worn quickly and lost adjustment. Did you check to see if the discs and plates were close to the right thickness? Did you check the total stack height of the steering clutch to see if it is even close to right? You can try adjusting it ...

Re: Swapping 4045T With 4039D 550G Dozer Help

I don't know if there will be a difference in the two flywheels or not. You might have to swap the flywheels. The parts book shows different flywheels in the 550G 4045T depending on convertor or not. Then the question will be if you have to swap flywheels, do you need to swap the housing plate that ...

Re: This hydraulic pump work for 350c upgrade?

I think you have it backwards. Here are the titles for the pages from the parts catalog. The title on the Dozer page is "HYDRAULIC PUMP (15 GPM 57 DM3/MIN)) (6300, 6305, AND 6310 BULLDOZERS)". The title on the loader (and for dozer with hoe) page is "HYDRAULIC PUMP (23 GPM (87 DM3/MIN) (LOADER AND B...

Re: Swapping 4045T With 4039D 550G Dozer Help

I believe the main difference is blocks intended for use with turbos have passages drilled in them to supply oil to the piston cooling nozzles. Also I think not all 4039 engines had engine oil coolers (oil to water).
