I have an idea the tractor was ordered set up to use in pulling some type of agricultural plow which was operated with the hyd. cylinder. The weights on front help to keep the front end of the tractor down when pulling heavily, for better traction.

Mr. Layton: The advice you gave concerning the Model 350C is right down the pipe correct. Switchhappy had said some things in a way that made me wonder if he truely had a Model 350C, and he may have. I have seen confusion related to Model 350C and C used as a designation for Crawler, happen here bef...

When you say 350C, I assume you mean the C stands for the model; ie. Model 350C. Sometimes, I"ve seen people use the C to designate the tractor as being a crawler; if it is a 350 (straight is most times used as model designation) or a 350B, then the clutch housings are dry (no oil in them at all) Th...

Thanks jtrichard, sometimes it pays to ask the dumb questions. Found a source of some good used rollers for a 420. Can't afford new ones right now, so I'll try some of these on my 350.

Bottom Rollers

A dumb question most probably; but will a 420 bottom roller fit and work on a 350 straight?

New tool (to me)

I just added a new tool (to me) to my tool box. I'm sure many of you already own a hand held, battery powered, fiber optic video monitor. It works great in that you can examine the inside of the steering clutch housing by only removing the inspection plate and inserting the optic cable. When adjusti...

I'm certainly no expert but, the times I have done the reassembly in the past, I did it with the pinion shaft installed in the final assembly, that way you can be sure the shaft and everything is as it should be inside the brake drum. Also it appears that too much of the throw out bearing carrier tu...

Your a heck of a man if you pulled the final in 2hrs. by yourself. If it were me and I am doing the very same thing on my 350 right now, I would replace all fibers and steels while you got it apart. Do it right to start with and be done with it. You mentioned resurfacing the steels, resurfacing will...

I assume you mean to say "it started to slip when under load". To me, if it were spinning, the track would be turning and trying to dig in, which would not indicate the steering clutch was slipping. I know what happens when I "assume" anything so this is just my thought.

IP14255- Thanks for the reply -Yes I did remember to do that; basically the hold up was the two bolts that hold the drawbar on that side, fastens into the final, and they have a bushing that the bolts pass through and the bushing fills the remainder of the hole. Apparently those things are press fit...

I have the same crawler, and just today got the final on the left side pulled. Quite a job in itself. My 350 would not turn left and made a similar noise as you describe. Ken is right in my case, the brake was being applied and the clutches were not releasing because the throw out bearing carrier ha...
