Hi: Send me an email address, and I can send you an attached Marvel-Schebler and Zenith carb manual - I found it helpful when rebuilding my 420's carb. Paul

Hi: Did you time to "Spark" or "TDC"? sounds like your engine is running with retarded spark to me. Hope this helps. Paul

Hi: Take a look in the parts manual for track types. Go to this site and type in "420" for model, and look for manual "505". You can down load the whole manual for future use for free. Paul.

gearmatic winch brake band relining

Hi: I contacted this company and they quoted me $150, plus shipping to reline my 8a Gearmatic winch brake band, which is a much better price than I was given locally. Has any one dealt with this company, and if so, how did it go? Thanks. Paul http://www.stillchampion.com/index.php?page=products&sub=...

I'd recommend pulling it off, cleaning and rebuilding it. Usually not too difficult or expensive - be careful with the small and fragile looking parts - get a manual so you have some idea of what you're doing. If you send me an email, I can send you a Marvel-Schebler and Zenith parts and repair manu...

Thanks for the added information, and thanks JD430 for helping to get the pictures posted. Any chance of getting a video on YouTube showing your machine at work? I'm curious as to how it will work on side hills and on frozen inclines. I've taken a few rides and really like the caulks on my grousers,...

420 distributor magnetized?

Hi: Today I was working on getting my dozer ready for winter and while changing out the secondary wire (the small one) from the coil, I noticed that my distributor was very magnetized - the wrench was being pulled to the side of the distributor body. This doesn't appear to affect anything - the mach...

I may have missed some of the discussion, but have you checked your fuel lines? I've seen the steel lines crack/split (on mine, under the seat).Check for a loose clamp or a rotting rubber connection tube which will let the engine suck a bit of air causing it to skip. A loose hold down can rub throug...

Just another opinion. I like 1/2" cable on this small machine; I run two standard chokers with hooks (rather than keyholes) and a grab hook behind the knot giving me the ability to pull three individual stems, or to wrap around a big tree to help back up a steep hill. With the bigger cable, I feel c...

Hi: Glad you got the manual. Regarding the gas, check for flow starting at the tank. Crud can plug the tank outlet or the small screen in the carb inlet if it's still there, and obviously internal ports and jets. I have a carb manual which I've just sent you too. Good luck. Paul
