Re: To buy or not to buy

Lol so I’m a bit freaked out I bought it should be moved to my shop this coming week I got a parts manual that the guy had when I bought it, and been looking through it. I honestly didn’t realize they had a wide and normal tread set up. So it’s a factory wide as stated above, not really meant for m...

Re: Jd 350 recommended oils

Low pressure vs high pressure grease guns: low pressure gun work well on new fittings but older equipment rarely has new fittings. Manual high pressure guns(lever type) are only as good as the operator. Yes, they can provide crazy high pressure,if you stand on the operating lever. Use common sense a...

Re: Jd 350 recommended oils

Hi, There may not be roller zerks. Sometime in the 80s, they went to sealed rollers which don't get greased. But, if the rollers get greased, there are ten, five per side. And the idler. And the top roller, which a bolt needs to come out to get the end of the gun onto. That vents the top roller. Al...

Re: Jd 350 recommended oils

On engine crankcase I use either straight 30wt in cold weather or 40wt in hot weather. I'm old and 15w-40 just looks "thin" to me.Hydraulics I use either JD Hyguard ($$$$) or regular 303 Hydraulic oil($$) had good results with both. Tranny is same(303 or Hyguard) as is reverser.Finals is where it ge...

Equipment gods are in a pissy mood....

It happened again: doing a service on a tractor;just regular oil and filter change, etc and get done and crank it up to check for leaks and smell burning rubber. Looking for a shorted wire and see the fan belt smoking. Shut 'er down and grabbed the alternator pulley to see if is was seized(note to se...

Re: Value time

Hi, Yup. After a certain amount of Blood, Sweat and Tears one keeps it and keeps on keeping on. Eventually you get it all caught up to. It is amazing how much $$$ goes for 'while I am in this deep, I oughta replace....' isn't it? ;) Stan Hi Stan, That has got to be the understatement of the century...

Sounds like I need to get my hands on a plasma cutter and give it a whirl. Maybe this ol' dog can still learn a new trick or two.

Re: 550G dozer transmission oil /temp light

Sounds like a bad temp sensor. Does this occur when at first start up or after it's been operating for a while? If it's at start up it's the sensor. If it's after running a while it is probably a fouled cooler and the sensor and system is doing what it's supposed to do.

Re: Plasma cutters

Morning Terry, Reviews on the net are all over the place. Don't have a plasma cutter as I use a cutting rig and have an assortment of cutting tips and never cut anything thin enough to worry with flame distortion. From the online reviews it seems that for occasional use the eastwood is ok. Why are y...

I'd have to sell my old Ford tractor to buy it though. Any knowledge on these? Worth that price? The fresh paint worrie...

Morning Terry,
Yup,rich folk can be "odd" but it keeps the rest of us busy. Sounds like you got some really good building materials: bet you're planning what to build already :D
Today I'm just going to rest. Back is killing me and I could use the rest for sure.

Re: To buy or not to buy

Hi, One thing I am sure you already noted is that prices run all over the map. Literally. Different areas have different supply and demand and that changes prices. The best I can say is right there in my signature. No such thing as a cheap crawler. Ha! Oh, and a few years back, Deere offered a ReLi...
