@Cutting edge

Good advice. I did forget to mention that I own a manufacturing company going on it's 26th year of operation. Business of manufacturing I know well along with cash flow etc. How I got into dirt work: dingbat doc told me to get a stress relieving hobby and I've been re-building assorted equipment and...

@cantbeatadeere

I look at it 2 ways: cash in hand(as in 100 dollar bills in MY hand and not the feds) versus pricing higher and seeing reduced inquiries/jobs. These first 3 paying gigs will dang near pay what I have in all 4 dozers. Old business saying goes if everyone is happy it was a good deal. Just don't want t...

What to charge

Need some pricing guidance please. I've got multiple dozers (350B,350C,450C,D6C) that I have acquired to work with on my farm or to fix and sell(lots of fixin but no sellin so far). I put an ad on a web-site for light clearing with the smaller dozers which I can haul with my dually and a 21K gross t...

anywhere is good

Injectors are all over the net. +/- $50.00 a pop. If you're replacing the injectors because you have an intermittent miss before you do so check your valve adjustments on the head. They are adjustable and need adjustment periodically. Be sure to order a new valve cover gasket before you pop the cove...

Mark explained it better: do look for those timing marks.Another way to check is to disconnect injector fuel lines at the injector pump then find top dead center on number 1 cylinder.Mark the fan pulley(white out or a pencil type paint marker) on the same side of the unit as the injector pump to use...

MANY Thanks!

More good posts from some knowledgeable people. Thank you for the input.Just got another clearing job(20 acres medium/heavy brush to 8" pine and a little hardwood) and after checking steering valves and upper seals this 350C will be the primary dozer on the job so it will get a good test. Thanks aga...

@CATD8RII

End of your post you suggest checking steering clutch valves. It could be just that simple and I'll pull them down and check. Thanks! Reason I didn't look toward those is dozer turns on a dime and will do so at idle which to me indicates good steering "lock up" pressure going back to supply pressure...

did it ever start?

Just found your post. If it hasn't yet started I may be inclined to think the re-built injector pump was installed 180 degrees out of time. Easy to do that.Easy to fix: remove pump,rotate shaft 180 degrees and re-install. White smoke indicates fuel getting to cylinders but pump out of timing means i...

some good points but..

When I had the steering clutch housings,finals and transmission drained and with the reverser filled and in operation I could see no oil bypassing steering clutches. Oil flow(gain) into steering clutch housing was from center line of the transmission out toward steering clutch housing. Doggett Machi...

A hint

Hi Ted, A little friendly advice on unknown equipment: I buy 10-15 pieces of equipment a year(tractors,loaders,dozers,etc to fix,sell,or keep) NEVER EVER trust any gauge that comes with the unit. I always evaluate the engines with mechanical type oil pressure and temp gauges. Takes a little time but...

engine smoked

Hi, What you had was a major engine failure:broken valve is minor compared to what you will find when you pull it down. My guess based on past rebuilds and buying non-runners is you will find a broken piston connecting rod on cylinder with broken valve.Piston will be damaged as well,liner,etc. Worse...

JD 350C reverser seal issue

Here's the problem: on my 350C oil from reverser was transferring to transmission. Open and inspect and steering clutch piston seals intact, pressure and return lines for same intact. Drained transmission and clutch housings and finals(finals have common sump with transmission on this unit). Filled ...
