Can you fellas offer any advice on setting up the spring setting behind the faceplate? I cannot seem to get mine to read correctly, the rpm is all over the place and there is little spring pressure that returns it to 0 rpm. I moved the spring but where I think it should be it cannot go because of th...

Re: MC60 blade
There was a MC blade for sale in my area a month or so ago, in Pennsylvania. It was listed on http://classifieds.pennswoods.net/classifieds/index.cgi They are out there. Just not very often!

checked my notes, and my 420 has compression of 110 on #1 and 115 on #2. I used an inexpensive rubber cone type tester, so numbers may be off somewhat, but it gave me an idea of the balance between the cylinders. Paul Thanks Paul. I'm surpried that the compression isn't more of a published data for...

A lot of the time you will have moisture in the breather cap and pipe, but not in the engine itself. You have hot air escaping the engine through the pipe and breather which are cold, so it condenses there. Lavoy That makes sense Lavoy, Does the compression tests sound good? I cannot find any infor...

420 engine compression tests
I recently noticed a small amount of white smoke coming out of my oil filler tube so since we are having some warm then cold days in Pennsylvania I figured it was condensation, especially since I haven't been using my 1956 420 much lately. So I did a cylinder leak down test and a compression test so...

Re: 420C
Maybe we are all wrong, he says he replaced the water pump on the eBay listing. Maybe it's a 420 with a MC undercarriage. Who knows!gregjo1948 wrote:This machine is on EBAY now also! I suggested to the seller that it might be an MC and I'm wondering if he will reply as to why he thinks it's a 420. gregjo1948

Re: 430
I don't see much chatter about the 430 Model, can a person still get parts for it? Other than the obvious track, rail and roller wear, are there any other problems to look for on the 430 when looking to purchase one? A good bit of parts are still available thru John Deere, there is also a lot of af...
